Hard Reset and Apps on Mass storage?

Was just thinking (dangerous I know) - if you do a hard reset, it doesn't wipe mass storage does it?

This being the case, what happens to all your apps? I presume that all the shortcuts to the apps will not be there when you re-boot, yet the data for the apps will still be lurking in the background?

Also, when I do a backup, I don't select mass storage beucase although this is where my messages and apps are, all my music is there too and it would make a really huge backup file. But, assuming Mass Stoagre doesn't get wiped, and the restore brings back all the shortcuts, all should be good shouldn't it?

I had to do a hard reset this morning because I didn't have a backup and after carrying out V12 update lost all connections

My mass drive seems to be as it were after the reset.

Did you have apps on Mass? Are they still there?

So, after a reset the phone scans Mass for apps and puts the icons back in place?

after you do the restore, yes

1. PC Suite -> Phone backup
2. 7370
3. initial configuration
4. restore from backup
5. your icons should be back where they are*

*you must know however, not all programs may work, post restore..

Ok, that makes sense. Even though I've not backed up Mass, because it's not wiped during the reset, the restore of C should* put everything back like it was.

Cheers!!

I am not sure if it is wise to restore from a backup in this situation..

Why did you hard reset in the first place?

If you hard reset because of problems with some previously installed software, then a restore may actually bring back the issue. If this is the case, make sure you restore only certain elements such as your phone book/messages etc and not the applications or phone data (which you can do separately yourself anyway).

I had a major issue before with booting and got to a stage where a hard reset didnt fix the issue and found that the apps that was installed on E got reinstalled automatically by default (which is a feature of S60 that tries to reinstall previous applications from left over data). I ended up formating the E: Drive and restoring some basic stuff before hard resetting it once more..

I've not actually reset, I was just wondering what would happen if I did in case when I next do a firmware update (if one ever comes out again) it all goes wrong!

Thanks for the replies
