E70 questions

Hi to everybody,

I am new E70 user, and I'm curious to get more of it's functions working...
So far, I have the following questions - maybe some of you could help me...

1) I have Lotus Notes 6.5.5, and I tried to sync calendar with local mail file which happens to be C:\Documents and Settings\UserID\Notesdata\mail\filename.nsf. However, I got the warning "Specified database does not support required datatype". I got the same warning when I tried to sync with mail file on LN server. Any ideas about "required datatype"? I actually use Pylon Conduit for syncing LN with my PDA, but I thought E70 had native sync capability with LN?

2. I use Bluetooth USB dongle with WIDCOMM drivers 1.3.2.7 on my laptop (with XP SP2). I am able to use bluetooth dial-up connection with my E70 and it works OK. However, I am not able to connect E70 to PC Suite via bluetooth. Connection manager has a tickbox "Bluetooth (Microsoft)". When I click it I get "Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available (Code: OpenMedia)". Is it possible to get WIDCOMM BTstack 1.3.2.7 to connect E70 to PC Suite?

3. Finally, I cannot use dialup connection via E70 IrDA modem. It cannot open the port, so I guess there must be IRQ conflict... However, I can connect E70 to PC suite via IR. Where can I see what devices are using what IRQs? Device manager is showing no conflicts.

Thanks a lot :-))

Hi,

For number 2, I would replace the Widcomm BT Stack with the Microsoft one. It's not often I would recommend anything from MS, but in this case the BT stacks seems more stable. This involves editing the bth.inf file. I found the procedure on support.hp.com (HP laptops use the Widcomm stack)

For number 3 I would remove and reinstall the IRDA drivers on your laptop. Never used the IRDA modem though so can't be sure.

Vilius:

Once the phone is connected through the PC Suite, have you tried clicking on the 'Connect to the Internet' button? This usually sets up the connection automatically.

AFAIK, for Lotus Notes, there is no native support -- although IBM and Nokia/Symbian are working on it. There is support for WebSphere; but it involves installing items on the server end; more details are at the Nokia Business website (from the nokia home page, click the green Business button).

If you can connect anything via IrDA, surely it is not IRQ problem. (For your info, IrDA is a serial from the PC point of view, usually COM2 on laptops.)

You should initiate MODEM from your E70. It should work. Something strange was happening with mine also, but finally worked well.
