unable to download and play mp3 files on nokia 6600

If you're talking about the original 6600, then it doesn't have support for MP3s at all. I.e., this one:

If you're talking about the Nokia 6600 fold or 6600 slide:

then they do support MP3s, but they are based on Series 40, and are not Symbian/S60 based, which is what this forum is about.
