Speed dial issues

I just performed a hard reset on my N95 and reinstalled a back up file which (deliberately) didn't have settings saved.
My speed dial contacts are still there, but I can no longer dial them by pressing and holding the relevant number, only by pressing the number, then pressing the green dial button.
A small thing I know but I'd really got used to it.
Any suggestions?

Don't want to be too obvious but have you checked :Settings/phone/call/speed-dialling?
