worthy successor for N85

Hi Guys,

I looked over almost every page on the net comparing N85 to N86 and N97.
What to choose?
I own a N85 for almost 5months and I'm not very happy with it.
I've got a lot of issues with this phone, but the worst is the build quality.
So I've got to get me a new one but I'm not sure wish one.
N86 looks to much like N85 so I think loose and a self-destructive slider is one of the things that will be the same on the N86. (Mine scratches itself every time when slide open and close)
N97 looks pretty big and slides also but in another way.
N97 also uses new symbian. Any good? Does my new bought Garmin XT works on this one?

Or choose a different brand with good slider phones?

Any suggestions are welcome

The n86 slider is metal and is one of the nicest slides I have ever used no other slide comes close its solid comfortable to hold the phone is a real winner too bad theres all these touchscreens around which shade it from the lime light its really the best phone in every way, You wont go wrong with one

iam just selling my n97 after 4-5 months with it and several replacements its just not a very good phone yet

iam now using the n86 and to me its leaps and bounds ahead of the n97 i wish id chose it in the 1st place it would have saved me alot of hassle

its a great phone just not advertised alot like the n97 i hope it doesnt become one of the forgotten models

N86 overshines any other phone I've had!

N86 would be my choice

I bought the N86 after nigh on 12 months searching. I just could not find a phone with exactly the features I wanted. The N85 was almost there but I was unimpressed by the build quality. My thumbnail went through the plastic casing of the first one I handled and I didn't like the keypad membrane. The N86 is much better built - a toughened glass face, proper buttons on the keypad, and a generally better finish. I'm on great fan of slider phones but this one has nice action. OK it has a very slight wobble but nothing like some phones I have seen.

I had a N97 for a week. The reason why I sold it is because I could not get a GPS lock. The issue seems to have been fixed now, along with the lens cover, but the phone itself felt quite slow. Much slower than my old N85.

I came pretty close to buying the N86 (played around with it in a store) and the build quality is really good. But somehow I wanted to get a touch-screen phone, so I opted for the Samsung i8910. Let me tell you that it has an amazing screen and feels real good. But if you want a phone with a nice camera, then do get the N86. If instead you want one of the fastest symbian phones out there, if not the fastest, then get the Samsung. Its definitely faster than the N95/N85/N96/N97 that I've owned in the past.

BUT, beware, if you are not the kind of person who likes to flash the phones hardware, then dont get the Samsung!

n85, successor, worthy
