Just follow the instructions in p3nfs doc/usb.linux. Instead of /dev/ttyUSB0, use /dev/usb/acm/0 (and make sure you have ACM (USB modem) support available in your kernel.

Aside from that, it works exactly as in the instructions.

How to make sure that ACM is supported? I did everything point by point and no connection is aviable...
SieFS support SX1?

It looks like you have some permission problems. Have a look at the permissions of the acm device.

I have also tested this method to connect with my sx1, but in my tests it fails with
Sep 21 23:56:17 debbi pppd[2382]: pppd 2.4.2 started by root, uid 0
Sep 21 23:56:17 debbi chat[2383]: send (.^M)

Sep 21 23:57:47 debbi chat[2383]: Failed
Sep 21 23:57:47 debbi pppd[2382]: Exit.

Why my sx1 did not response to the request???

bye

Is it also possible to connect the SX1 with Windows Me? I know that the SDS doesn`t work with Me but an alternative program (Sendo PC Connect from Sendo X) does. The only thing that`s missing is an USB-driver for the SX1 and Windows Me. Does anybody know a solution?

Hello all,

I think I did it like in the instructions but cannot get a connection. pppd exists after some time while waiting for the answer of my SX1.

Could you post your ppp/peers/sx1-file and the sx1.chat-file. I am wondering about the IP-addresses inside and I am not sure (in fact don't know) whether they should read my actual wlan-ip-address of the host computer or those 169.254.68.1 is always correct.

What works is:

miranda:~# host wsockhost.mrouter
wsockhost.mrouter has address 169.254.68.1

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Markus

Hi!

I got the connection roughly working over USB to my SX1.

Key facts:

PC end of PPP connection: 192.168.100.1
SX1 end of PPP connection: 192.168.100.2
(change as desired)

USB device: /dev/ttyACM0
(may be different on your system: /dev/ttyUSB0, /dev/usb/acm/0,...)

Change accordingly!

1) pppd
---------------------------------------
/etc/ppp/peers/sx1-usb
---------------------------------------
debug
noauth
lock
local
proxyarp
passive
silent
idle 0
460800
/dev/ttyACM0
ms-dns 192.168.100.1
192.168.100.1:192.168.100.2
---------------------------------------

Note the lack of the "connect/chat" stuff. I don't need it on the SX1 over USB cable! Essential for the handshake to work is the "ms-dns" line! Otherwise the phone thinks, you want to dial into the net over the phone, and asks you for an access point!

2) DNS server (bind)
---------------------------------------
Zone file: /var/lib/named/master/mrouter
---------------------------------------
$TTL 2D
@ IN SOA transit.lan. root.transit.lan. (
2005082101 ; serial
3H ; refresh
1H ; retry
1W ; expiry
1D ) ; minimum

IN NS ns
wsockhost IN A 192.168.100.1
ns IN A 192.168.100.1
---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------
Bind configuration: /etc/named.conf
should contain (additional to all the common options)
---------------------------------------
zone "mrouter" in {
file "master/mrouter";
type master;
notify no;
};
---------------------------------------

Check it with

host wsockhost.mrouter. localhost.

3) Now
/usr/sbin/pppd call sx1-usb
should work.

ping 192.168.100.2
should ping fine

4) In order to use p3nfsd, the NFS app on the phone expects the PC at
169.254.1.68.

Add this address to your PPP interface:

ifconfig ppp0 add 169.254.1.68

(You could also have chosen this IP from the beginning.)

5) Launch p3nfsd

p3nfsd -series60 -tcp -user <YOURUSERHERE> -dir <YOURMOUNTPOINTHERE>

6) Launch the NFS app on your phone, push button until TCP connection is selected. Phone should get mounted.

ls <YOURMOINTPOINTHERE>

should give the "disk" listing.

I hope this help a little?

My current problem - thus "got the connection roughly working":

I am looking for a gnubox SIS which works on the SX1 _and_ contains the "2 box -> Cable" option. The version for Nokia 7650 which works on the SX1 doesnot contain this recent option.

Any hints very appreciated!

Work, but i get disconnecte with ppp after 1.5 minutes

eijk,

Thanks for this good receip. It "roughly" works with me too.

For the others: dont forget to enter in your file /etc/exports:
<YOURDIRECTORY> rw

and restart your nfsserver then

But here is another challenge:

After establishing the ppp connection the sx1 disconnects after 1.5 minutes.
too short to do anything ;-)

Any ideas ?

kristan

Smile Start your named after pppd

Got it.

You need to start your named AFTER establishing your ppp connection.
Otherwise named wouldn't bind to the ppp interface, and the nameserver would not be found by mrouter.

FYI: I used directly the addresses 169.254.1.1 (for the sx1) and 169.254.1.68 for my notebook.

But: every now and then p3nfsd hangs when copying large files.

regards,
kristan

Question Tried this with M600, but it won't work... Any hint ?

Hi,

I currently can connect my P910i over the USB cradle (needs "mrouter are you here" chat).

I am trying to connect a M600i over usb cable.
I can connect with the following script :

#connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/peers/p910-usb.chat'
/dev/ttyACM0
noauth
debug
460800
crtscts
passive
lock
local
proxyarp
ipcp-accept-local
ipcp-accept-remote
ms-dns 169.254.1.65
169.254.1.65:169.254.1.66

pppd call m600 initiates a connection... but the m600i terminates the connection :

Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: pppd 2.4.4 started by franck, uid 1000
Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: Using interface ppp0

Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: local IP address 169.254.1.65
Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: remote IP address 169.254.1.66
Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: LCP terminated by peer
Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: Connect time 0.0 minutes.
Dec 4 14:03:47 feuille pppd[21882]: Sent 119 bytes, received 123 bytes.
Dec 4 14:03:50 feuille pppd[21882]: Connection terminated.
Dec 4 14:03:50 feuille pppd[21882]: Modem hangup
Dec 4 14:03:50 feuille pppd[21882]: Exit.

I have dns configured ok (I think) :

dig wsockhost.mrouter

; <<>> DiG 9.3.2 <<>> wsockhost.mrouter
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 13704
;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; QUESTION SECTION:
;wsockhost.mrouter. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:

;; SERVER: 127.0.0.1#53(127.0.0.1)
;; WHEN: Mon Dec 4 14:21:57 2006
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 51

So my question is : is the M600i supposed to work the same way as the SX1 ? Is it looking for wsockhost.mrouter ? Or is there another black magic to summon ?

Thanks,

Franck
