Unhappy Hard reset with broken display

Some time ago I broke the display on my P910i. The SE service center refuses to repair my phone because of a "moisture mischief". So I'll try other ways to get a repaired display but before I want to clear all my data.

I searched and find the hard reset cheat "UP * DOWN DOWN * DOWN *" but also the hint that this will bring me a menu where I can select the hard reset. Because I obviously don't see anything I need help to get through with this. PLEASE!

Thanks in advance
Grumml
