Importing vcf contacts

I have just ordered an E65 to take advantage of the WiFi SIP capability when travelling and working abroad but I've been using Sony Ericsson phones for many years and need to be able to transfer my 300+ contacts from my SE phone to my Nokia. Is this possible with the existing software in the E65 or do I need an additional application? I can export my contacts from the SE phone as individual vcf files but how to get them into my Nokia?

Do a sync process with Outlook for both devices.

Thanks for this suggestion but I already use Outlook for a different set of contacts (primarily email). I suppose I could set up a different user on my laptop and use it for the synching. I'll check that idea out.

Nokia contacts app can read vcf files. I haven't tried but I imagine you can just bluetooth/email/etc them the the phone and the option to add them to your contacts will be there when the file is recieved.

Thanks for this suggestion. I suspect you're right that I can bluetooth the contacts to the E65. When I get the phone I'll try this and report back.

Also, you could try out SyncML, a standar for wireless sync. you need a service provider, though... Mobical.net a Zyb.com offer that service for free. You should sync your info with the SE, then resync with the Nokia. It's cumbersome, but it works if Outlook does not do the trick.

Well, I got my new E65 phone and it is awesome - SIP and Skype over my WiFi connection! Brill!

But I can't get my contacts transferred. Using Bluetooth to send from my SE K750i doesn't work except on a contact by contact basis. I can't just send the whole phone book and with over 300 contacts doing it one by one isn't very appealing! I'll try the synching via Outlook but I don't seem to have brought my USB cable with me on my travels so that may have to wait until I get home in a couple of weeks time!

You can try creating another user on your PC and then using Outlook to sync / transfer. This way your existing e-mail contact base should not be affected.

In the end I just did a selective transfer from phone to phone by Bluetooth of individual contacts - it was time I 'weeded' my contact list anyway and this was a good opportunity to do so. But it is an irritation with the Symbian software - I have an old contact list (also a vcf file) from my Psion Revo and as the machine has long since died the only way I can access that list is via a Revo software emulator.

But apart from that it's an amazing device!
