Since moving to S60, I've used PIM a whole lot less frequently, and its totally a UX issue. Sad really. Because a solid PIM suite would endear this platform to being more noticeable for all users.
Hi, AW.

Yes, I have to agree, having just moved to the 5800 from a Palm TX. I keep my life on my handheld pretty simple, largely because my work life is on a work issues BB (yuck, but no choice... all info locked down and encrypted).

Because of this, I was happy enough with the standard Palm Garnet PIMs syncing with Outlook. I am using the default S60 PIMs for now and they are ok, but seem a step backwards in comparison to the Palm PIMs. It seems the best out there is Handy Calendar-- $30 for a fairly standard calendar and task app.

Hopefully, Pimlical will eventually come down the pike (so long as the Java works smoothly), but for people looking at Symbian from an experience of using Datebook 6 or even Agendus, this is going to be the biggest hurdle. If Agendus or something like Pocket Informant were to come out in a native touchscreen version, I'd snap it up.

By the way, I don't want to give the wrong impression. I love my new 5800XM. Just saying...

I'm still stuck on my...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_CLIÉ_PEG-SJ22
with regular old PalmDesktop.

I haven't yet found anything that can do essential PIM better.

i.e. without wasting time on overly complicated forms/options, and still has quick button access to PIM apps instantly, and touch screen to v.v.quickly add/change PIM data.

I'm hoping the Android PIM will improve.

Cheers,
Rajesh Duggal

This is an unbelievable state of affairs when people are carrying around Filofaxes, various Psion, Palm devices etc. (even David Wood of Symbian) to go with their 100g 'smartphones' because the S60 applications are so poor. Who owns the source to the Psion Agenda s/w and why can't it be ported to S60?

Most powerfull 3rd party PIM is AquaCalendar by PocketTorch.
Thats for sure.

There will be also 5800 touchscreen version of it.
User interface will be more solid and overall app simplified to everyday usage.

Do you have a release date for the 5800 version? Any beta screen shots?

AquaCalendar for 5800 will look similar to

but with higher resolution, scalable icons and finger touch usage.

I also develop 5800 Contacts application with finger touch scrolling. Will look similar to

Plan to release Contacts first and AquaCalendar right after it.
I hope as soon as OVI store will be running.

I understand and agree with all comments about the use of paper agenda and even with the A4 paper... but... itīs a shock for these days, but I give up from paper agenda on 1998, when the replacement was, with enormous limitations and ways to solve all of them, the Nokia 6150... I know, how can I do my professional and personal life with an 6150... but I do, and now with N82, I donīt even think about limitation, but on advantages with a multi converged gadget, to replace a lot of things! Itīs not perfect, but itīs only one peace! It could improve, it will go improve, but on only one peace, please!

Anything similar to the PIM of 93300 ?

The difference that I can not find a replacement for between the Lists in the 9300, and the new to-do lists , is that in the 9300 , we have separate lists , each with many to-do items which can appear easily in the day view , so practically we have soemthing similar to Project with to-so items or task names with sub-tasks

What we haev today is onlt the "seprate " " leftalone" to-do items.
Only one program i know about , that it lets you use the categories to group and view the lists, and it is not even for S60.

As a developer, I could develop a PIM application which does everything has been asked in this thread and more. What do you think would be a reasonable price for such an application? Thanks for your feedback.
