Nokia E71 and E66 get Ovi Maps free navigation

Nokia today announced the availability of Ovi Maps 3.3 (3.03) for the Nokia E71 and E66. The updated version brings the free, worldwide pedestrian and car navigation edition of Ovi Maps to these devices. Nokia says the release is a result of listening to consumer feedback; 'you spoke, we listened' says the press release. The E71 and E66 version do not include the Lonely Planet guides due to technical constraints, but the core navigation offering is the same as that found on more recent devices.

...well I am only going to say one thing, if Nokia can release it for the E71/E66 then they could if they wanted to release it for all S60v3FP1 devices like the N95, N82 etc etc.
It proves there is no technical reason why they can't.

Ok, great but where's free maps for the E75?

I was hoping Nokia would do the same for the E75? :-(

Why are Nokia not releasing free Maps for my Samsung Jet? If they don't give me Maps soon I'm going to sell the Samsung on Ebay and never buy a Samsung again.

Oh that's really great ... just one week after buying a new annual licence for my E71 (albeit at much reduced pricing) they go and make it free!

I am a recent E71 owner. I am very glad Nokia has back ported this feature to E71. For the record, navigation was not issue for me, but I did and still do think that Nokia should make their policy clear. As I wrote earlier too, it is the lack of clarity which breeds discontent.

I did not think much of the complaining here and at other places, but apparently it helped. So to be fair, dear whiners I would like to thank you too!

BTW, does this mean owners of other FP1 models should start complaining a bit more vociferously?

Exclamation That's cool...

This gives me hope that an E75 version isn't too far off...

Great, the E-3.1ers get the new maps, but the most successfull nokia smart phone ever, the N95(8GB) doesn't. well that can't be a technical descision. The E71-Application should run on the N95 out of the box. That's a "throw the old phone away an finally buy a new one" message. Understood nokia, but if the next one is a nokia gets more and more uncertain.

Just downloaded it. Seems to work well. Thank You Nokia.

A now even happier E71 User (for almost 2 years now, never used any device that long)

I just read the announcement at the Nokia Conversations. They clearly state that these are the last s60 3.1 devices to get this update. However no word on support for the remaining FP2 devices.
