I've seen Garmin run on a few devices and never better than these clips. Even on a newly flashed device. It's so weird. I even found a clip on YT with Garmin running on a PNA in the exact same (lack of) speed...

Of course fps is just one single parameter to judge the software on. The routing, POIs aso can be terrible on Sygic, but at least it shows you what is happening right now, instead of afterwards.

TomTom ran so nice on my old HTC Magician some years back. Who would have thought that that's what we would be hoping and praying for now, instead of something better?

Id love to show you a video of Garmin on my phone, but the only video recording device I have is...my phone!

POI never interest me, I take it as a given that the preinstalled ones are rubbish. As long as you can add your own, Im not fussed.

Id be interested to see the routing for sygic. I think thats the main barrier it had before, since they sorted the voices out (allegedly).

I guess you can send me the from/to info and I will then be able to calculate a test route for you? It of course depends on how the info is displayed, if I can transfer the route to you without having to do a millions screenshots or so

That would be brilliant, though like you I dont know how you'd get the route across without 100 screenies.

I'll have a quick think, but thanks for the offer either way.

My McGuider arrived today. Will check it out later, but for now I can show you the packaging. The installer claims to be build 7.52 (409).

Now I'd love to see a working demo of this, as I am very interested in this as a suitable TomTom replacement, should they decide not to develop TTN6.

I have made a .mpg for you to see the frame rate of Sygic. It's 10 megs, naturally because I had to keep the frame rate high @ 25fps. It's done on a Nokia N95 through the TV out, which may use some cpu resources and thus slow down the frame rate. Demo mode, running at 303% std speed.

Now compare this to Garmin and see the difference But of course nothing is perfect, not even McGuider. Notice the 'turn slightly left' in the vid. What does that mean?

That's quite impressive, TYVM I know it may be asking a lot, but how about a demo of the menu system and structure. I find that to be very good on TomTom and not so good on many other models.

There's a few screenshots here:

Hmmm, interesting, thanks for that.

Be even better to see it in actual use rather than a demo mode.

Also more boring! Because this demo runs at 303% speed and I am not going to be speeding THAT much Besides, it's kinda hard dragging all the hardware with me in the car to do the live vid cap...

Can anyone who's currently got McGuider comment on the reports of dodgy routing that's supposed to plague the Sygic software ?

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/sygicdrive.php

I'm hoping they've managed to sort those problem out as Expansys are currently selling it for 39.95.

For that sort of money I'll happily settle for a few rough edges but I do need to be able to trust that the software won't be taking me down cross-country footpaths...

For under 40 on a memory card, Im tempted to buy, review then sell (no hassle with transferring licences) it.

Well, just ordered it. Hopefully I'll have a review up in a week, maybe two. So if your patient, wait for it before buying.
