Try changing proxy server port to 5082 instead of 5060.
My isp plusnet/F9 gives 240 free minutes per month so ask your isp if they offer any

for asterisk pbx
thanks jman200x for the excellent post.
for anyone who wants to register your n95 with asterisk pbx, follow the config instruction by jman200x, for "Realm" in Registrar server sub menu, use "asterisk" instead of "unipalm", you are all good.
I have tested with my n95 8g, superb sound quality

Is there a way to use a SIP profile over the edge data network? Whenever i'm not in a wifi point, i tell my n82 to register with the internet telephone service, and it just sits there and says registering for like a half hour.... please please please tell me there is a way to get it to work over edge or 3g????

It depends on what service you're trying to connect to really. If it's a corporate VoIP system (eg, one where you work) then it needs to be publicly available and not something internal only (it needs to have a public IP address or be NATted to the outside world).
If it's a VoIP subscription / chargeable service then it may be that your carrier is blocking the VoIP traffic and it may not be included or allowed in your service package.

I would add that it's totally hopeless over EDGE, the standard codecs require way too much badwidth. It's touch and go over 3G, alway the upload speed (data coming from your phone) might still be a limiting factor. In a good coverage area it might work with a low-bitrate codec such as g729 but not the usual g711.

skype
its a shame we cant just configure skype onto it.
I downloaded the skype application onto the phone, but calls are made over standard calling service, rather than over the wifi or data or voip.
There are skpye phones (not the "3" skype phone, but i mean the ones youplug into your router etc ) available- any way we could simply find the details and configure them into the n95?

it only works over 3G or wifi. it will not allow you to register on EDGE. i guess nokia realized edge is just too slow so the phone wont even attempt to connect to edge. however i use truphone VOIP over 3G all the time and it works great.

yeah i'm convinced there is a worldwide conspiracy against skype on s60 phones like the n95. i would think it would be so easy to develop a native symbian app for skype, or even somehow make it work over built in SIP client. but nothing so far has come out...its conspiracy man i swear!!

That is unless you have a branded phone from which the operator has removed all the SIP-related stuff, in which case even the VoIP settings, or maybe try to ask to some person that they know how to fix an OS of an N95 cellphone like that!!!

Can't Register
Hi
I can't get my N95 to register with VoipStunt. Pls help me.
N95 is connected to WLAN - can browse the web.
I noticed that there are 2/3 different versions in this thread.
I also looked at
http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic20941.html
I just could NOT get N95 to register.
Could someone pls post a revised version?
My phone is unlocked and its not re-branded, ever. Also I am not looking at installing another sw - I just want to get the N95 SIP to connect. Thanks
