fring enables Skype video calling on Symbian

fring today released, to select Symbian devices, an updated version of their social communication application that enables Skype video calling functionality. This is the first, consumer ready, implementations of Skype video calls on a mobile phone. You can both place and receive Skype video calls from other users (including other fring users). It is an extremely impressive technology implementation and a good example of what is possible with the Symbian platform. Read on for more.

Read on in the full article.

I hope Nokia/Skype are looking hard at this implementation when creating their app. If video calls can be achieved via 3rd party app why not natively?

What I miss in fring the most are conference calls. Video calls are cool, though.

Hmmm, yes, where is Nokia's Skype integration for the N97 I wonder?

Q3 2009 they said, and we are now rapidly heading toward the end of Q4.

hmmm - read this article and downloaded the new version with great excitement, but can't get the video bit to work ( calling from my N97 to a laptop ) . Anyone any idea's? I can see my own image as the small image - what the caller should be able to see, but can't see video and the person I'm calling also can't see video.

Was connected over wi-fi.

I've tried it in 5800, it worked great... But the video quality from the phone could have large improvement... The video from a computer looks great... I used 3.5g connection...
