been trying to DL it but when i got to software update it only offer's 300 firmware currently on 200 just wondering if i need to do the 300 update first? or is there another way for me to get the 400 firmware

I struggled for a long time to update mine to v300 firmware, and the only way I got it to work was:

1. change the PC (Product Code) using NSS (Nemesis Software Suite)
2. download the firmware files using Navifirm
3. install the firmware using Nokia Care Suite

I updated to 400.21.013 this week.

Is it just me or does the SIS file CenRep101F8809 no longer work to disable the shutter sound? It worked properly after signature on the 200.xxx ROM on my e71-2.

i have a similar problem with this new firmware.
with the previous version, i was running two programs (appswitch103.sis and YaPN_0_0_4.sis). both were signed and they installed correctly in the v300 firmware.
after i updated to v400, and tried to install these programs, i got the following error messages: "Certificate may not be valid, is expired or phones data setting may be incorrect" or "Certificate expired" for appswitch.
for YaPN, i get: "required application access not granted"
both files were signed through symbian signed, and i set the application settings on my phone to accept all applications. i even tried to set the phone's date back a year or two, but no luck.
this is driving me nuts, since i need these programs to access my MMS. (i am using an unlocked phone with a psychotically user-hostile japanese carrier).
anyone else have this problem? any ideas for a workaround or fix?
i am suspicious that maybe nokia changed its signing or application access policies with this latest bit of firmware...

As I have promised I will let you know if new official software for E71 will be available. Today I was texted by My Nokia service that new software is there. Nokia Software Updater tells the same. Please check your devices for 400.21.013 firmware and enjoy updating your phones! Remember, as usual the update may not be available for all product codes at once!

That's a nice and simple tutorial. You can use the same method with vertex paint color now. It is even possible to use multiple vertex paint color maps at once (Col field defines which one is used in input). Vertex paint can be especially useful on dense meshes.
