On holiday: net wil connect okay, but not opera mini 5

I can't figure out what to check, other than re-downloading Oper Mini 5 Beta.

I on Three, but phone is switching between Three (my network) and Orange.

I can connect fine to the built in browser, and maps is downloading info fine.

But opera isn't connecting at all. And yes i have held down the red key to ensure that there is no other connection active.

Can you offer any suggestions?

socket = proxy = connecting probably through a specified port other than 80,443, etc to a back end server that compresses and serves the web pages through to you, hence making them really small

http doesnt do that, it's a direct connection to the web from oMini, just like the web browser

if you're on unlimited data, you can opt to change it back to the original socket style as it proly serves up faster loading times, other than that theres ntg much of a difference on an unlimited data plan
