V11 firmware did not fix live widgets

After installing the V11 firmware in my N97 NAM, I ended up doing a hard reset and reloading.

STILL....the Live Widgets on the Home screen get stuck:

Facebook - stuck on "Loading Content"
Accuweather - stuck on "Loading Content"
RSS Feeds - show feed name & "Click to refresh", but never update
AP - stuck on "Loading Content"
Contacts - no longer show images!!

Granted - the Contact applet works, the Facebook applet runs fine standalone as do Accuweather and AP.

BUT...the Web application still gives "Unknown error" when trying to access the RSS feeds.

I suspect the problem with all of this lies in the Web applet.

It all started after I began adding feeds.

Does anyone know how to clear this?

When I did a backup of my data before the hard reset, I omitted "Bookmarks" from the backup thinking that it included the RSS Feeds. When I restored after the reset, sure enough my bookmarks were gone, but the RSS feeds were still there.

Does anyone know where to go to delete them and maybe fix this mess?

A further update...

Not only did the firmware update not fix the problem, it has made it WORSE.

Now if you try to add Accuweather to the Home Screen, it locks up the home screen indefinitely...you can't select Done or select the widget to remove it.

The only solution is to hold down the power button and reboot.

Internet access for the applications work JUST FINE when the programs (Facebook and Accuweather) are being run as standalone.

It is the HOME SCREEN that gets "locked up".

I believe that there are hooks for the home screen that get locked up by the RSS feed problem in the Browser applet.

The facebook application is pointless without notifications.

When someone comments on your status you cant read it or reply to it and if you login via the mobile site it logs you out next time the widget connects

Most widgets (all) inherit their access point settings from Web.

You might want to check you have the access point set to Internet in the Web applications. Options -> Settings -> General -> Access Point.

I find the above mentioned widgets work for me. Though there is an issue when switching to WLAN to cellular. Not sure whether the v11 updates fixes this or not.

Okay I'll explain again and I'll type s-l-o-w-e-r for those whose reading comprehension is not in the top 10 percent.

My Destinations/Access points work F-I-N-E. The email widget in the home screen swaps effortlessly between the various WiFi points that I frequent and in-between it goes to my AT&T.

Each application (Facebook, AP, Bloomberg, Web browser, Accuweather work F-I-N-E when you run them standalone. That is when you press Menu->Applications->etc. and run them directly. They work on WiFi. They work on 3G. No problems there.

The problem is that when putting any of these "L-I-V-E" widgets on the home screen...they get S-T-U-C-K.

The problem started after adding RSS feeds to the Web Browser.

Others have reported that after adding THREE (3) feeds, they lose the ability of the Web Browser to process RSS feeds. This problem has been reported in the last month in the Nokia N95 and the 5800.

On the N97, it also seems to H-A-N-G the L-I-V-E widgets.

Would you like add three feeds to your browser to see if you can duplicate the problem?

Before I added the RSS feeds, my live widgets were working just fine on both WiFi and 3G.

SOLUTION:

Here is how I've gotten the Home Screen Live Widgets on my N97 NAM (Made in China) functional again.

1. Perform a HARD RESET and then reprogram the phone from scratch.

The hard reset doesn't delete any of your applications, but it does clear a lot of settings.

The only thing that I chose to restore from a backup was Calendar.

Now I have Accuweather, Facebook, Email and AP News all L-I-V-E.

I promise that I will not install any RSS feeds into the Web Browser.

I will use Opera Mini for feeds until Nokia finds a fix for their browser -or- someone comes out with a different browser.

Now comes the long arduous task of reloading all Music, Contacts, etc.
