Just because it works on the 5800...

....doesn't mean that it is fully functional on the N97.

Software vendors are starting to list their products for the 5800 as being compatible for the N97.

After trying a number of them, I suggest that a criteria be established with regard to software being described as "working" on the N97:

1. Software must be operational in LANDSCAPE mode as a minimum and preferably be operation in both PORTRAIT and LANDSCAPE. It must auto-detect which orientation the N97 is in.

I just reviewed a scientific calculator program which only works in PORTRAIT mode and has keys so small that you must use a stylus on the touchscreen for all entry.

2. Input methods must support the use of the keyboard and the touchscreen. Keyboard key-mapping must ALL work as advertised.

I have tested a video player program and found that the keymapping displayed in the on-screen menu brought up (sometimes) by a touchscreen double-tap did not match the letters on the keyboard.

I wonder how long it is going to take for the software available for the N97 to be comparable to that available for the Series 80 phones? (my 9300 spoiled me!)

5800, works
