Risk buying a dodgy P800? Some advice please...

Hi - I wonder whether you experts could give me a word of advice. I'm fed up with my 9210 (sloooow, constant memory problems) and am thinking of swapping to a 9210i which I've tried and which is surprisingly better than the original.
However, as an Ericsson man, I am sorely tempted by the dodgy P800's floating around ebay, mostly US sourced.
What would you guys say that I should watch out for if I bought one of them? There are plenty of developer kits on offer with a premium of 100-300$ but also some non-specified examples at much lower prices. Where could they be from? How can I go wrong?
Thanks in advance!
