N96 T-mobile, changed product code and problems updating firmware from v10 to v11
Hi
Nokia N96 uk supplied T-mobile. product code:0573139 (original)
i changed my product code with the NSS to UK/IRELAND 0568238 and was updating to v11 and half way through the nokia updater stopped and asked me to remove battery and charger cable, then replace battery and charger, then click "retry" on the nokia updater and then press the power button on the phone. but this didnt work! i tried the process another 3 times with no effect.
when i cacelled and checked the phone it was still on v10 firmware. LUCKILY
so i went back to the NSS and changed the product code to EURO1:0543713 and then went back to nokia updater where it said there was an update to v11 (just sas did the UK/IRELAND code said)
and it updated to v11 with no problems at all, i had made a back up before hand, but even after updating to v11 firmware the phone still had all the previous settings, pics, vids, text messages etc, maybe its because there aint much difference between v10 and v11 firmware?
regards

Ofcourse you still have the same vids, pics and texts, why the hell would you want a firmware update to clear those? Firmware updates fix bugs etc not delete your phone's contents...

User Data stored on the phone is normally wiped during a firmware update.
Anything on the card will remain but settings will be factory default.
Check your version by using *#0000#

n96 has udp , user data prtection , so even after the update you will have all them apps still visible etc , its so formats and updates are easyer and gets rid of the whole restoring part off things i bet even your contacts were there :-)
