All online shops here in Sweden seem to be listing it as being delivered to them on Oct 8th.

Judging from the name, Jukka lives in a very special part of Scandinavia where Nokia phones seem to be released rather early for some reason... ;-)

FYI: Finland isn't part of Scandinavia.

Scandinavia includes Sweden, Norway and Denmark. It is named after the mountain range called Skanderna which lies along the border between Norway and Sweden.

Yes, of course, I know technically you're supposed to say "the Nordic countries" to cover the entire northern region next to Russia, but in real life most English-speakers just say "Scandinavia", possibly because it's easier as it's a single word.

I suspect Jukka was using "Scandinavia" in that sense, as quite a lot of products do use that term in describing the Nordic region.

The UK suffers from a similar problem, many people refer to it as "Great Britain", but that's actually a geographical term which only covers the main island. Even worse is when people use "England" to describe the UK, which of course only covers the southern part of the main island.

And then there's the Netherlands and "Holland"...

Right. And this incorrect usage of the word causes confusion, as we've seen in this thread. Thus, it's better to use words correctly.

The N96 is a very poor phone! I can't understand why it will be accepted in numbers apart from the fact the its the current top end Nokia.

The one thing it has over other phones is mobile TV. Two points on that:
1 alot of countries dont have this service.
2 who carries a mobile television with them? Alot of people carry a camera or a video cam or a calender - all of these things I can accept in a phone because people actually want to carry these things around. But who, apart from taxi drivers, wants a mobile TV? A portable media player is good - a mobile tv isn't.

My advice to Nokia is to make better camera/ video phones and sort out ovi and n-gage.

If the N96 has the iPlayer app, a working S60ed3 iPlayer app, why in the name of the Spaghetti Monster can't the rest of us get hold of it. (I'm assuming that if vw could it would have been at the top of the AAS front page!) I doubt it's hardware dependent (though it may be optimised for the N96's screen res) and I can't imagine not having FP2 woukd stop you from using it. if my assumptions are correct it can only be because Nokia are keeping it as a USP for new models, which would vex me muchly...

nokia have nothing new to offer, this phone is a flop and we all are starting to see the fall of nokia.
