Is it possible to code websites on the N95?

Though I haven't received my phone yet... I understand it comes with a built in Nokia browser. Is that correct? What other alternative browsers are available for it?

Also, say I did get a bluetooth keyboard for my phone, would it be possible to actually do some web site coding on the fly using the phone? Are there ways of using FTP to transfer files on the phone? Say I'm on the road, and there is a problem with one of my sites (I'm a freelance web developer on the side) would it be possible to download the offending file to the phone, make some changes and upload it back up on to the server?

Any options for this kind of thing? Any info/tips/experiences would be greatly appriciated. Cheers!

You can use the included webbrowser which is fully http capable. Or you could download opera mini (which is recommended as it's just awesome).

For editing purposes, I guess it would depend on what format you are developing in. If it's plain text or you use an online webediting service, this might be possible. But if you are coding in Java or c++ or in an html editor, I don't think this is possible as I haven't seen any applications capable of doing this that are for download to the phone.

I have seen a few text editors but I'm not sure if you could save them out to a different file extension such as .html or .htm if you were to edit such file.

Basically, would be editing just .html, .js and .php files really... So you reckon it's probably not possible to make changes to such files? I wonder if the built in browser or the Opera Mini browser has FTP capabilities?

Yes. I use ftp to transfer php docs to my website and make changes to various functions on the fly, all from my N95. The app to get is SIC FTP from SIC! Software GmbH.

Is it free software to use is it? Can you save multiple connections (as I have around 20 sites I would like access to)? Also, what kind of text editor do you use to edit your web page source files? Can you get dedicated web site text editor (with syntax highlighting?) or is it just plain text...

I don't even have my phone yet, so I'm just stabbing in the dark with all this... But I'm thinking this phone, with a bluetooth keyboard, would be a really great way of sorting problems out where ever I am...

The software is free to use, subject to your data plan, and was even a free download IIRC. I just use QuickOffice to edit the text document, rename the file extension from .txt to .php and upload as required. I have also used the inbuilt browser to get to the admin pages of the website as well, to use the tools there, though that is slow unless you have a good 3G connection (or WiFi).

I use MobileSSH and just log in to the server directly and work on whatever is needed. I telecommute (work from home) so it's cool to be at the beach or anywhere WiFi is not, and still be almost as productive. (If I'm not too lazy I take the laptop and just use the phone as a modem)

Edit: I had to change service provider at one point - 3(.x)G is not always 'the internet' - a lot of telco's like to block ports for no good reason.
