How to auto start Apps after power on (eg RemoteP800)
I found this out by accident while using FileManager:
I have always been frustrated that RemoteP800 doesn't start automatically as I seem to reboot fairly often and when I put the phone in the cradle and RemoteP800 doesn't work it is a right pain to manually start it again!!
Create a text file called 'WHATEVER.lnk' and place it in the folder C:\system\Startup. Possibly, this folder was only created when I installed HandyDay as I got the idea from Day.lnk (the only file in that folder). The text simply contains the filepath of the app you want to start, in my case, \System\Apps\RemoteP800\RemoteP800.app

This does work actually, I did it to get tracker autostarting. You just have to make sure you spell the name correctly! ops:
(I mis-typed the name at first...)
And of course it has to be on the right disk - i.e. D:\System\startup if the target file is on the D: drive
Works fine.

Is it true that without handyday this won't work? Muppet did you get it to work without handyday?

Interesting...
Yes, I do have Handy Day installed (who hasn't?), but not running or autostarting. I may uninstall it just to see what happens.
On the face of it, unless Handy Day's installation modifies the UIQ system, then this would seem to be a funtion of the OS, not application specific. It's a long time since I've had to arse-about with boot scripts (Mac User..) so I'll have a few tests when I get round to it.

I have try and double check it's file name. Everything was correct but still fail to autostart when bootup.

guys ... ther's another way which I find more usefull to start applications with, it's using miniGPS
anc the best thing is that u can set it up to start the application whenever you get near your PC, so no need to start Remote P800 all the time when u restart, but it only starts when you get near your PC of even put your P800 on it's cradle
cuz the way miniGPS works is that it detects your position to the GSM network, which is unique in every location u stay in.
it works fine with me, and I got it to start Remote P800 whenever I put the phone on the cradle, and it saves battery cuz u won't have all your application On when u don't want them
it's realy cool
