Why can't I transfer data from N80 to N95?? :-(
Hi all...!
Why can't I transfer all the stuff from my N80 to the N95 using the 'Phone Switch' (N95) or 'Data Transfer' (N80) tools on the phones????
When I try, I just get the message 'Some data not copied' and then the bluetooth connection closes. Have tried this using IR too, but to no avail.
HELP!!!

Ok, I know it's nothing I'm doing wrong, since I've successfully managed to transfer all the data from my own N73 to my new N95 (me and my wife bought 1 each).
The N80 is my wife's, and I've checked the Nokia site and it has the most up-to-date software.
Any ideas?

In the N80 Tools menu, there's a 'data transfer' utility (this is called 'Switch' on the N95). It transfers all of the following direct to the N95:
Contacts, calendar entries, test messages, notes, bookmarks and recent calls.

HA HA, I know, but thats no guarantee that you had them installed!
I still dont know which files arent transferring... I know youve said what should transfer, but you said it gives you an error saying 'some data.....'... so... is it sendin some but not everything... or just giving you that error straight away?

OK... the data transfer utility opens fine and finds the N95 fine via blutooth, and then I have to select which data I want to transfer. So I click 'All' and then start the synchronisation. It looks like it starts off ok, but after about 5 seconds, it just comes up with 'Some data not transferred' on both phones - it doesn't transfer anything at all (the N95 shows zeros all the way down the list of what it's successfully retrieved).
Is there any way to re-install the utility? Do you think that could be the problem? Thanks very much for your help, BTW

Have you tried the opposite way? To start the transfer via N95's transfer utility?
Menu > Tools > Transfer. If the result is the same try to transfer the items separately, first the contacts, then the messages, etc, so that you can see which data exactly are not transfered.

yeah, check to see if theres any issues going the other way, and then see if you can do it bit by bit to tell if there is an offending file.
As nothing is going, Id think something at the start of the sync is the issue...so it may be the software itself...
The fact you call them phone switch and data transfer is a bit strange to me because both mine are called 'Transfer'... are your labelled differently??

Thanks a lot for your help guys - how simple was the solution!!!?
Just did as advised and copied the items one-by-one. It was the text messages that were causing the problem... then I realised my wife isn't in the habit of deleting text from her inbox very often, so there were nearly 2,000 texts in there!!! No wonder it wouldn't work!
Thanks again
