how to use mask on volume controls , clocks

hey , im trying to figure out how to use the mask optionin the s60 theme editor(v.3.0) on the volume controls and the clock .. it just does not happen . the white background is always there , and the mask option is off,
PLZ HELP ME IF U KNW HOW TO DO IT
