Apps closing by themselves????

I dont know if I am the only one or I just figure how to run a search on this forum correctly, but I keep getting the different processes closing themselves. DosServer seems to close itself if I disconnect from my bluetooth headset a lot 9was able to live with this) but Im now getting a message "Main App closed" this seems to kill off the whole Now screen and it means that all buttons on my phone stop responding, i cant even turn off the phone, I have to disconnect the battery. Im running the latest firmware from Sendo 1.98.5.2. this has only started happening and it seems to get worse if I leave like the phone on for long periods of times without turning it off like 3 to 7 days.

the latest version is stable but it could be 3rd party apps causing problems.
Back up your apps, contacts, and data then master reset the phone by powering off then power back on whilst holding down the 5 key and follow the on-screen instructions.

I have seen this happen occasionally, generally after prolonged periods of use.

A quick fix seems to be to backup your phone, then do a reformat (using the 5 key) and then restoring your data back to the phone. (it works for me anyway)

One thing you might see (and I've got a bug report in with Sendo about this) is that if you've got delivery reports turned on for SMS, occasionally the phone will not play you the correct beep or display the "popup" window when a report comes in. Instead it will play the new message sound. If this happens, the next time you restart the phone, you will receive the missing delivery report(s), which will then cause "Main" to crash. Another reboot fixes the problem.

This is an obscure bug and you probably won't see it. However, if you do notice a delivery report not coming in properly, be mindful of this the next time you reboot the phone - the subsequent crash of "Main" means you need to factor in for 2 reboots in a row.

Well finally did the hard reset, had to finally do it because the Now screen stopped working, dont know if it will fix my problem or not but waiting around to see what happens with it. hope the new firmware will provide better stability

still happening unfortunately, Im finding that this happens more frequently when I leave the phone on for extended periods of time like a week (I recharge it during this time but leave it on) or when the battery is running low.

Im thinking when the battery is running low that the phone closes apps to conserve power, and the only thing i can surmise when it does it when I leave the phone on for a long time is that the firmware is misreading the battery usage and so it closes the app.

without knowing how the phone handles power management I cant say for sure that is what it is doing

That's not right from what I know - the phone won't shut stuff down to conserve the battery.

I regularly run my phone for weeks (literally 2, 3, 4 weeks) between turning it off / rebooting it, and very rarely do I see any problems. Certainly not apps. being closed down due to the phone having been on for some time)

Have you got any 3rd party apps. running in the background on your phone? I would be suspicious of these if you do have any.

I have found with some third party apps that they cause "interesting" effects with my phone (most notably the start-up screen cycle when charging). I have found that in all cases it is due to third party software as once the phone is back to factory setting it works fine.. The trick is to keep a log of what apps you're putting on (do it one app at a time) try it for a little while, and you'll soon nail the culprit.

Here is the list of 3rd party apps I have installed on the phone

FE Explorer
switcher
OggPlay
UltraMp3
Animal Farm
CardDeck
Lemonde Inc

The only ones I use are FE Explorer and Switcher nothing else after that. For MP3 playback I have actually been using the one that comes with the phone and I can get rid of all the games for all the time that I spend playing them.

If someone can tell me from this list what could be causing the issue please go ahead cause I am stumped.

I'd instantly suspect Switcher as being the problem there. It's an app. which runs in the background all the time, so therefore fits the symptoms that you're seeing...

I have FExplorer, OggPlay, and Lemonade installed out of that list, (plus a lot more) and don't have this issue.

The other one to look at is UltraMP3 - that may be causing problems, as it is going to use quite a bit of memory while running.

Ultra MP3 I dont use, got it on a whim.

Thought switcher didnt run as a TSR type program but only activated when you selected it. I actually got the program orig because of the problem thought I might see what was running that was chewing up the memory on the phone

One program that may help track down the culprit is TaskSpy - it tells you what apps are running (including backround) and how much memory they're using. I know its not FE Explorer - I use that on Vodafone OS (yeah, yeah I know its a Symbian phone but you know what I mean) without any problems.

I know OggPlay has given some people various problems...

I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time today) but I thought all these switcher type applications ran as TSR...

One thing I have found (especially with Psiloc software) is that even apps which are not meant to be TSR sometimes don't shut down completely and a reboot is needed to clear out any processes / threads they may have left open.
miniGPS certainly did this, and made the phone quite unstable, even after it had been terminated - it's possible something similar is happening on your phone.
