bitrate and mono/stereo on 6600?

ok here goes.

i have a mp3 song at xxkbps(lets say 64kbps) and its stereo. if im going to upload it to my phone, would it be better to convert it first (dbpoweramp) to xxkbps
(64kbps) Mono? since 6600 speaker is mono. or could you just easily transfer the stereo ones and it will play just the same sound quality like the mono-version ones?

another question for converting mp3. i saw many variations in the forum and i dont know which is the best for playing mp3 @ 6600. bitrate? frequency? and is it really not worth it to convert @ 44.100KHz since 6600 doesnt support it?

please dont reply suggesting ogg,or AAC, nor anything else. i like mp3 : )

oh yeah, and i use Nokia Dual Headset HDD-1 for hearing. is it stereo? or mono? can i hear stereo sounds if im using stereo headset on 6600 ?

Well I allways convert it to mono since i think it sounds better and not sure if the size is bigger in stereo, but it pointless to use stereo.

As for the variations, the size of the file can continue growing but the quality is only as good as the phone lets it be. So u can waste space by putting quality too high. Id say use MONO 44100khz and 56 bitrate. Thats an opinion of course. It all depends on whose ear is listening.

As for the HDD-1 headphones, sorry to tell ya but the 6600 is MONO due to its HARDWARE, the 6620 does have stereo support. I also believe the HDD-1 headphones will not fit the 6600.

i dunno. without headset, 56 kbps sounds rather ok. but if you use headset (HDD-1 in my case) even 64kbps sounds a little bit crappy.

should i really convert the files to mono first? since i did it for 1 file and the size didnt change. 64 kbps stereo = 64 kbps mono (in size). if i'm not mistaken.

I think while converting you may have changed any parameters between the 2 files. What i know of is

64 kbps stereo = 2 times of size for 64 kbps mono.

As it's a stereo means the sounds come out from 2 channels instead of 1(mono). Thus the file sized should be doubled!
Most likely during the converting, you bitrates or Mhz changed during convertion.

(8 bits 64 kbps stereo == 16 bits 64 kbps mono) in size
(16 bits 64 kbps stereo == 2 times of 16 bits 64 kbps mono) in size

Go into Tools->Settings->Headset-> and choose loopset, The sound quality supposedly becomes better when you plug in the headphones.
I've never tried it, but have heard it.

oh my god! i think my problem with tear with amr file has been solved. i changed the settings to loopset and there has been a definate improvement. i dont hear any tear now!
i will post in the other thread when i am definately sure abt it.
