Ebooks on the 9500 - How to?

Hi- Should get my 9500 on Friday, and am looking forward to it, changing over from my Treo 600.

The question I have is I have a lot of ebooks in the .pdb format that I carry with me and am wondering what reader does the 9500 have that can read this format? Mobipocket does not read this format, am I out of luck?

Thanks for any help on this.

Regards,

Dustin

Simon Quinns eBook for the 9210 and Epocware's eBook Reader both run on the 9500, and happily read DOC files from palm with pdb or prc endings. You might also want to look at The AAS Guide to Ebooks.

Thanks! It's working now - must have downloaded the wrong version before.

I know I've said it before, Ewan, but please add Mobipocket Reader to the guide. I really don't get why The Best reader of them all was left out...

Well I have a large collection of ebooks that I had bought from ereader.com, and needless to say am quite dissapointed. Mobipocket works fine for .pdb books, but then problem with the ereader.com books is that you have to use their reader to read the books! They have encrypted them so that no other reader can read their .pdb format books, so I have sent them an email asking what the hey! As when I pay money for the books I expect to put them on any device I want.

So will see what they say.

Yeah, but that doesn't have anything to do with Mobipocket. In fact, one of the biggest advantages of using the Mobipocket Reader is that it works on every single platform. I bought some .prc eBooks from Mobipocket.com 2 years ago that I can still use, even though I've changed my mobile devices three times during that period. All you have to do when you change device is change the PID number on your account at Mobipocket and re-download the books. Simple and effective.

PS: I don't work for Mobipocket.

I've bought quite a few ebooks from Fictionwise and it's similar there - you can have i'd's for up to 3 devices. I just re-downloaded 30-odd books and they all work fine on the 9500 with mobipocket.

Agreed, i've bought a fair amount of books from fictionwise and with Mobipocket they all work fine. Should really update the old review, seeing as how the secure Mobipocket features have come on leaps and bounds since I wrote that review.
