Bluetooth and Battery Life

Hello everyone -- I have been reading all over the Web about Bluetooth and battery life. There are differing opinions about whether leaving BT on drains battery very much.
I have a 3620, and have found battery drains a lot when I leave it on at home -- but that could be because it is constantly in range of computer, possibly receiving signals back and forth. Although I am not sending data, it is connected to the computer.
I am now leaving it off to see if that helps -- Does anyone have any thoughts on why some find no battery drain and some do with BT on all the time? Thanks!
