Doesn't look like the new communicator (if there is one) will use series 90 now

Yes, the new communictor will use Series 90, but it is just a matter when it will be introduced.
This is from the Nokia press release:
"...Developer Platform for Series 90 complements Nokia's other developer platform offerings, Developer Platform for Series 40 and Developer Platform for Series 60. Series 80 UI, which is used in Nokia's Communicator line of high-end, top-performance business devices, will continue as the user interface for Communicator devices going forward, and will be aligned with Developer Platform for Series 90. ..."
This means again waiting for a new communicator. I guess I will get a P900, if Nokia does not have any surprises at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes in February 2004.
Cheers,

Nope, the new Communicator will still use Series 80.Series 90 is a whole new class of devices.
Nokia 7700.
It seems that we might see new communicator in the begining of the next year.

Did you check the part from the Nokia press release that I had in last post?
Current communicators are using Series 80, but the new ones will use Series 90! At least that is the way I understand it from Nokia's press release.
Although I'm surprised how bad the English was in the press release. Maybe we need a native speaker to make things clear.
Cheers,

Yes,i did check it out and i agree, the press release is very vague in some points. What does aligned in this case mean? Will the new communicator have similar design to the 7700?Loose the QWERTY keyboard? Will it be more multimedia centric?Or maybe there will be some form of compatibility between Series 80 and Series 90.
Its really not clear to me.

wat ever platform it wil be based on... im sure its for the best!
but mst importantly, i wud prefer if they kip d communicator's unique look and feel of lyk being an executive with both functionality, technology & style!
but ofcourse, innovations is a constant trend! Go w it!
Hope they dnt loose the full keyboard!
