Mail not pushing anymore
So, word is out that the Mail application could be broken after the "Phone Apps Update"
Mine stopped working after i did the update. The client has stopped receiving any emails from my Gmail account.
Tried removing it, then setting it up again, but it's giving an error ;
"Cannot enable the mail service that allows you to fully experience your favourite providers because connection to the mail server is not possible with the settings you provided.
Select 'Next' to set up mailbox without this service. You can attempt to connect to the server by adjusting the mailbox settings later."
This 'other' way of setting up the mailbox does not have push settings enabled for it, with the minimum of 5 minutes only (i think), somewhat like the old way of setting up emails on S60.
Even tried logging onto email.nokia.com and change my account password there, but didn't seem to work. Looks like it's whacked.
Anyone else facing this?
MfE is not affected though, probably because it's a direct connection to your own exchange server like RoadSync

got the same problem. only workaround is to set the retrieval (sync) time to 15 minutes instead of soonest. Even this is not satisfying me, it is a solution for now.

Hi Germ
My push email seemed to stop when the device synced more than 250 mail limit - most of these emails were already read and marked as read but still synced - when I moved all emails on server to another folder on both my email accounts (aol & bt) everything seemed to work OK - If you are considering deleting emails make back-up on server as the delete on device does not give option for server or phone anymore.I am on VF and have new app update

I tried to explain this to you in the previous thread but I will try again.
Any emails deleted on the phone and synced will delete them from your server. However, they still should be available to you under your bin on the web-based email. Mine are.
If you want to use your phone to delete emails only from your phone and not from the server at the same time I would highly recommend you setup Pop3 access instead. Then in settings mark downloaded emails as read and not to download read emails again. That will be the best solution for you. IMAP and MfE are MEANT to sync your phone to your email server - so a delete/reply in one place is reflected in the other.

I must be thick - can you set up pop3 with aol ? - I thought it used a imap server ?
And which bit did you try to explain before ? If what your saying is correct - the same functionality is not working with `read emails` as mail on device still displays all emails already read on server ,hence the problem I have been having with email quantity My BT is running on pop3 and still doing the same. Mail is also now much quicker now I have `cleared`the email ammount from server.

I am not sure about AOL or even BT as I have never used their email services.
BTW, you could setup one Gmail account and forward all your emails from various accounts into the one account. You can even label emails received from each account to go to their respective folders. And you can also reply to emails from the same account they were sent to. You might well know all this, so please forgive me if I am giving information that isn't needed.
Edit: AOL
http://help.aol.com/help/microsites/...ernalId=223775
And Google brings this up:
# Your AOL email address: The login / username is the part before the @ sign in the email address.
# Password of your account
# AOL POP3 settings (below):
* AOL Incoming mail server : pop.aol.com
Port: 955
The incoming server requires a secure connection (SSL), so make sure you check this option.
* AOL Outgoing mail server : smtp.aol.com
Port: 587
Important: The outgoing server requires authentication

And if you don't accept the terms and conditions at the end of setting up email - i.e. your mails won't go through Nokia's server - you can reduce the time interval down to 5 mins. My previous attempt at this was in fact going via Nokia which then delayed deletion. I am seeing my emails arrive like push email when setup via IMAP at 5 min intervals right now using Gmail.
So my E72 and N8 are connected to the same email account and the E72 is connected via Mail for Exchange (because it works on that phone) and the N8 via IMAP. New emails arrive at both handsets about the same time give or take 1-2 second and to the web based mail 20 seconds later.
