Introducing and interviewing Hiplogic
Hiplogic has been a name that has floated around S60 circles for the last year or so. Ostensibly a Web-aware homescreen replacement, it turns out to be something more ambitious, albeit with a few minor caveats. I set out last week to intercept Hiplogic's 'Chief Action Figure', Mark Anderson, and quiz him on the vision behind, and the implementation of, Hiplogic on Symbian. Read on for more.

I tried it and it's okay, but I wasn't satisfied with the way it integrated phone functions, which was sort of clunky. Also, the content applications were Euro-centric which is fine, but for someone in the U.S., it's sort of 'meh'.
I think Kinoma does a better job at this UI replacement concept, but sadly, it's only available on S60v3 devices. You can actually use Kinoma as your default media player and photo viewer, and then instantly get back to your regular phone functions.

Tried it and found nothing revolutionary. Its worse than the actual phone UI, certainly not something that I would install and keep running on my phone for a long period of time. I understand the real reason for creating this UI is that they want to create an app store and sell apps but they should atleast get the basic product right.
They need to create something that's looks good, works well and is able to completely replace the original UI by providing access to all installed apps in its menu.

I've have this on my i8910, and its a good concept and all, but having one widget on screen at once on a 640x320 screen feels like a waste. it also fails to connect to my facebook and twitter account for some reason.
I'm currently trying out SPB shell, and whilst most features don't work yet, it puts hiplogic to shame in terms of replacing the UI
