Ovi Maps free navigation now available for N86
Ovi Maps 3.3, with free navigation, is now available for the Nokia N86. The new version is available via the SW Update application (listed as Ovi Maps with free navigation) and is 8240 kb in size. As we have suggested before it seems likely that Nokia will make Ovi Maps 3.3 available across S60 3.2 devices either via direct download or via firmware updates. Read on for a few screenshots and compass tip.
Read on in the full article.

You may need to upgrade the N86's firmware (see if there is a Phone Update in SW update).... other than that you may have to wait 24 hours until the next automatic check for software updates. I suspect installing Maps 3.1 would also trigger it - but not sure.

Here is a tip for those that only see Maps 3.1 as an upgrade. Like Rafe said above, you may need to wait until the Software Update software refreshes itself.
The way around that is to change your date 3 days ahead. I changed my date from March 17 to March 20. Went back into the update app and voila, it refreshed and I now see the new maps app.
Just remember to set your time/date back to auto so that your date is corrected.
Just for the record, this version is 3.03(316). The E72 version was 3.03(246), so it is newer.
Cheers from Canada.

It just appears on my software update and I installed it without uninstalling the previous version (3.3 from the E72). Still work like a charm. And I still have my 40-35 MB on C: disk
Thank you Nokia, just add the contact bar in the next update and it will be perfect.

@rafiii: How the h-ll is that? The only applications installed on my N86 C: is these: Spotify, Road Sync, Quickoffice, Quickaccess, N-Gage and Adobe Reader. (On E: though, I have at least twenty other must-have-apps.) And I only have 14.8 MB left on C: to play with! The Memory Information states that 42 of the used 63 MB on C: are ‘Other Files’. How to get rid of those – with my Y-Browser – and without a hard reset or adventuring the phone´s stability? (Which I´ve fought so hard and long for! One bastard was the Ovi app Safe Store. Beware!)

Got it installed just fine
I already had the E72 version installed, but thanks anyway Nokia! It just didn't make sense not to offer this on the N86.

Seems unlikely, 5630 doesn't have on-board GPS, so it'd probably be a lower priority than the N95 and N85 - I get a feeling that these may have a long wait.

probably just coincidence but for the last few weeks my N86 has not been able to get a GPS lock using the E72 version yet suddenly today when the N86 version is officially released my GPS lock is instant
i wonder if they were preventing the unsupported handsets from getting a-gps info from the new version?
either way i still don't see the update for my N86 and i still can't get the firmware update to happen so if it depends on that i'm SOL
whatever... my htc desire should be arriving in a week or two
