Question paid vs. free Ovi Maps client

It doesn't look like Nokia is going to provide a free navigation Ovi Maps client for us FP1 users.
If I try to download Ovi Maps, I'm taken to a page that has links to purchase a navigation license.

I would like to know whether any FP1 device users (N95/N82/E71 etc) are using
or have recently bought a navigation license. Does Nokia plan to continue charging us for navigation going forward?

Now that I've gotten Ovi Maps to work on my E71 (see below), I see that it works very well. The navigation for pedestrians is free and for driving is only 9.99 euros a year (around US$13.50), which I think is a good price. I don't know what the traffic info costs or what it's worth since it isn't available for my country.

I couldn't get Ovi Maps to work on my E71 (couldn't connect to the GPS satellites) and tried various things (including uninstalling it, which I couldn't get to work), but then I found that it'll connect if I'm moving, even walking, and it takes a few minutes. The version of maps that came with my E71 would connect even if I was stationary, but Ovi needs to be in motion.

Installed Ovi Maps on my E71 yesterday

Seems they deliver a live time version of Ovi Maps for E71. I installed and tested yesterday, works great.

go here http://maps.nokia.com/ovi-services-and-apps/ovi-maps

and find your way to the right .sis

That was never a problem, but I'd like the voice navigation and having the map
data stored locally on the memory card.
Anyway - I got an N8 in October and it has the new Ovi Maps client with free navigation so problem solved
