v31 firmware has stopped modem working (nearly)

I've been using my N95 with both Vista/Vodafone Mobile Connect and Ubuntu/Gnome PPP for a while now, both using bluetooth and cable, and it works great.

Have updated to the v31 firmware (from v21, Vodafone UK default firmware, after debranding - all I wanted was the iPlayer app), and now it's decide to stop working. It connects in Linux, but then disconnects after about 8 seconds. It doesn't transfer any data, but the 3G connection indicator on the phone shows it connecting. Using Windows/VMC, it fails to connect entirely, not showing anything on the screen.

However, the Nokia PC Suite's "Connect to the internet using my phone" app works just fine still.

Anyone else come across this or have anything to suggest?
