how long till N95 8gb outdated too
I'm one of those lucky people in life. i finally get a N95 for a good price the day before the N95 8gb is announced!
So if i jump in and get the 8gb version, does anybody know how long it will be before an EVEN BETTER N95 will be released?
Too be honest i only want the newer model for the extra RAM

Who knows? Nothing has been announced yet (other than the S60 Touch platform, and that would be quite different). My guess is that they won't update the N95 any more after the 8GB, but Nokia will probably release a new high-end phone within a year or so; it doesn't do to have people finishing contracts and still being happy with their old phone!

So what phone became outdated then?
I would like to bet my N95 will do everthing the N95 8GB will do and more (accept micro SD cards for one).
I am waiting for the glut of cheap N95s from those who have 'upgraded'.
Should be able to bag a few bargains.

Technology keeps moving on.
If you sit on the fence and wait a few months for the next model you will always be waiting.
Typically a new handset comes out every 6 months or so.

Unplugged is right ....
You have to jump in at some time with technology purchases... whether its a phone or PC or BIG screen TV.
ROT:
Buy the best you can afford at the time, depreciate it against your income tax as aggresively as possible and when you can afford it but buy the next version.

As for your comment of
"I would like to bet my N95 will do everthing the N95 8GB will do and more (accept micro SD cards for one)."
Just how much money are you looking to give me sorry meant lose?
How ever big a memory card you buy you can't install another 64mb of Ram,
You cannot make you screen larger and brighter or protected by a hard layer,
You can't increase the size of your battery by about 25%.
As yet no one knows if you may get demand paging or not but many think it is unlikely.
Is that enough things the new 8GB does that your N95 can't, please send any monies you would of lost to a Charity of your choice.

Well, the N82 is just round the corner, most the stats make it look like a successor to the N95.

OK, I'll bite on this one.
Remember I said my classic will DO everything and more.
I'm reckoning on about £100 a pop.
RAM? Don't need any more. My phone is stable and doesn't reset or freeze or crash.
Larger and brighter and hard covered display doesn't make the phone do anything more.
Battery capacity incresed by 25%? Doesn't make it do more only the same stuff for longer without charging and I operate my phone on the existing battery without any hardship.
Demand Paging? Again doesn't result in the phone doing more. Only makes it subjectively quicker and my phone's plenty quick already.
The changes that brought about the 8Gb version are as a result of users who have minimal knowledge of how to utilise what is a complex and highly developed communications device. The changes are an attempt to address the operating shortcomings of many users who really would have been better off sticking to less complex platfoms.
The technology is too much for them to handle.
