Disadvantage in E61i!
I had baught a new E61i yesterday, with English/Arabic keyboard. I faced a very bad disadvantage (not a bug) in its system. For multi-language usage (and as Arabic is a non-latin language), I have to switch between Arabic and English as required. In normal Symbian phones, the pencil key does this function. It is available in any text input field anywhere in the system. In E61i, there is no any didecated key for that or even a keyboard shortcut (like Ctrl+C for copy). Nokia put it in the Options menu of the application. While it's available in built-in applications, no 3rd party application count for this case, as it depends on the pencil key, or doesn't count for non-latin languages at all. In such cases, I have to open any built-in application, and change language, or simply through Settings. Even for built-in applications, some cases does not hvae the option to change language in the Options menu. The most frequent case is in Contacts, when searching for a contact by initial letters. I stored all my contacts in my old Symbian phone in Arabic, and tranferred them to the new E61i. If I used English in some application, and want to pick a contact, I cannot switch language immediately. Such situation will let me re-write all my contac't names in English, and try to minimize the usage of Arabic allover the phone.
A headach drawback from Nokia.

If you mean my software firmware, following is its data:
"
1.0633.22.05
15-02-07
RM-227
Nokia E61i-1
"
I want also to inform you that the structure and distribution of characters (not English letters) of the Arabic keyboard is different from it in the English one, as I see it on the Web. It will confuse you if you isntalled Arabic version of the firmware. An example of that, the '@' character. It's placed on the key behind the space bar key. You have only to press it to type an '@'. In Arabic keyboard, it's placed on the "A" key with blue color. So you have to press the blue function key with "A" key to type it.
Good luck.

Thanks mst_dev,
but thats not what i meant, the product code is located on a sticker on your phone under the battary. There's two numbers, the long one is your imei. the one below it is called code and will start with 05 is your product code.
The nokia software update service uses this number to identify your model, color, operator and language pack.
As for arabic keyboards, were do we start??? Mac's have different keyboard layouts than PC's it's a nightmare...
Nokia's support of the arabic language has been amazing through the years, hence its popularity in the middle east.
Thanks for your help.

Hi desperad0,
I'm sorry for the mistake. The code you want is 0541677. It's realy true that Nokia support for Arabic language is the best between other brands.
I found an image for Arabic keyboard of E61, which is the same of E61i.

If you updated software according to the Arabic keyboard, the system will expect key presses according to this keyboard, which is different from the default English one.
Good luck.
