Installing TomTom on N95?
Hi there,
I have TomTom 5 which I previously installed on my N70, worked fine. Now I have the N95 and tried copying all the files across to the memory card but Tom Tom would not show up in the menu.
So I went out and got TomTom Navigator 6, I copy all the files onto the memory card and in the instructions it says to click on the tomtom_navigator6.cab file, well when I do this it tells me-unable to open, file type not supported, which makes me think this version I have maybe for palmtops only.
So is there anyway I can get either of these two versions of TomTom to work on my N95. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Nate

Yes you have got the wrong version. You have the windows mobile version and you need the symbian version. they are very different operating systems.

The TomTom 5 version will not function on N95, it's not for Series 60 3rd edt. You'll need to get hold of TomTom 6 version for symbian.
Either way, you won't be able to get it to connect to the internal GPS in N95. Currently TT6 does not support this, has to be a bluetooth GPS.

Hi Superswede,
I have the TomTom 6 version just installed on my N95, do you know if nokia or tomtom will have a fix for the internal gps to work with the software? its frustrating to know the phone has a intergrated GPS and dont work with the TT6 software. :(
Cheers... Quilts

It's not a Nokia problem/issue really, it's TomTom software related so we'll have to hope for a fix from TomTom.
Usually when contacting TomTom with theese kind of requests/questions they tend to respond with something like "maybe, maybe not..".
My guess is that there will be a fix or a new version providing an option to connect to an internal GPS. Mainly for two reasons:
1. The TomTom 6 version for Windows Mobile already has this option (TomTom is bundled with HTC P3300 which has an internal/builtin GPS).
2. More and more mobile devices will in the near future hold an internal GPS. TomTom will loose some of it's market share if they cannot provide software to be used with theese devices (why would you bother to buy software that requires a bluetooth GPS when you already have a built in one..?).

Thanks Superswede, i make you right, they will lose some of their market eventually.
Lets just hope they sort the problem sooner rather than later ay?
Thx to you too Autopilot.
