Delay apology(!) and official release for Smart2Go
Nokia has apologised officially for the three day delay(!) in availablility of its rather splendid Smart2Go software system, citing higher than expected interest requiring adding extra capacity to its servers. Over 30,000 people have downloaded Smart2Go for S60 3rd Edition or WinMob 5.0 in its first two days. Other versions are planned. Full press release below.

Ok, I have three times now tried downloading the 4 UK maps (England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland) and on every occasion, the download takes a few hours and when the progress meter reaches 100%, the download progress continues, it doesn't stop and the time remaining goes into minus figures. The only way to stop this is to cancel the download.
Once this has been done, my memory card shows up as full, even though there was about 250MB free and the 4 maps totalled 125MB approx. The phone then becomes almost unusable because it is continuously popping up a "Memory Low" message
The only way to rectify the situation is to use the "Remove Maps" feature of MapLoader.
This renders the whole application pointless.
Is anyone else experiencing issues like this ?
I am running a Nokia N73 ME on firmware V 3.0705.1.0.31.

Worked almost flawlessly for me, with N93 and E70, each loaded in 'Mass storage/data transfer' mode.

Yes, I used that mode, and I also tried it with the memory card in my PC reader, and the same result every time.
Did you download all 4 UK maps simultaneously or one by one ?
I have submitted bug reports but am flumoxed as to why I seem to be alone in this predicament.

Maybe I'll try them one at a time tonight.
I need to rebuild the contents of my phone, so I will be doing a full format and re-installing my apps later. I will see how that affects it and report back.

Doesn't work on the N91
The app crashes a few seconds after it starts.

I downloaded the UK maps with a USB adaptor and whilst it took about half an hour, they installed ok in my N80 and the app runs smoothly. Not having TomTom, I love it.

Yeh my N80 with a 2GB card did that too, on both occaisons.
It loaded for so long I realized I could have walked to the bookshop, bought a map, found where I needed to go, walk there, walk back, then perhaps the map would work.
I wanted it to look at a map for New York.
But bought an actual Lonely Planet Guide instead.
Luckily the N95 has better things then that Map went its comes out, cos i'd
purposely delete it the minute I got one.

map download
worked great for my N73. you need to give the MapLoader some time, even when it says 100% and still downloads you need to wait and not cancel the download. Once finished, I had all maps. I also figured why it says MemCard full where it uses only 50% of its size. This can be changed in the settings to 100%. Guess they have done this to keep some memory for other things. I can only say: It's really a treat and a fascinating experience!

Ok, after a good clean up and reformat on the phone, I re-installed Maps and downloaded just the England map last night. Although the download itself was still a little slow on my 2Mbps DSL (Took about 40 minutes) it got to 100% and actually completed i.e. I received the prompt to say download successful. I am now trying it out with the GPS and will see how it stands up. I also travel a bit for my job so wil give it a run out when I next go off somewhere.
However, as I have said before, it's no TomTom !

OK well this is really great and I look forward to trying it myself when I can. What I don't get is why on earth nokia would make it available for windows mobile. Surely this is giving away an obvious advantage to a direct competitor. Is nokia planning on making that much money on the navigation charges?
