Error message "Memory full. Close some applications and try again"

HI, ive just got a 6680 on o2. Im having problems with it saying "Memory full. CLose some applications and try again". I can solve this problem by turning the phone off and on again but i dont want to be turning it on and off 3 times a day just so i can use the camera, internet or an application. How can i solve this problem? im using firmware v3.14. Another thing i dont understand is when i use my camera it says i have only 11 photos left and 5.47minutes on video left. But surely since my phone is brand new i should have more. Im using a 64MB standard mem card. Help any1? Cheers in advance

memory

to see how memory left, try tools -> memory it's show you your usage of the RS MMC

to see how memory left on the phone memory try Fexplorer or go to contact -> options -> contacts infos -> memory

to take more picture or videos, try to free memory or drop the picture or video quality

for the lack of space in a brand new phone, it's due to pre installed apps

Check to see if it's your phone memory or MMC memory that is full. If Phone memory transfer some files to MMC. Ringtones, Videos, etc. Also set Camera and Video to use MMC instead of Phone memory.

Download the installation files for Nokia programmes from here Nokia 6680 Downloads

Uninstall some of the applications via Manager and then reinstall and load files to MMC instead of Phone memory

Hope this helps

i think its one of the options, go to camera then settings and when you scroll down i think you will find whether to use 'phone memory' or 'memory card' i think

Ok ive done that now. cheers! Now i mwondering when i check my memory it says im using 1873Kb of phone memory but only shows 19Kb for contacts and 2KB for calender. Where is the rest of the memory being used? Its the same kind of thing for the momory card aswell. Another thing i have heard of some software called tracker, apparently it helps control applications- does any1 know anything about this? Cheers for any help in advance!!!!

The memory used by applications are not reported. Check the manager application in System folder. Highlight an application and view details. That will show if application is using Phone or MMC memory. Big ones are Quick Office ! and Adobe

i have the same problem, but mine is related with the messages... if you have lots of messages the phone will be slower and slower until it starts displaying that message... although you have 8MB free in phone's memory and 30MB free in the memory card! I would like to know if anyone have experienced this problem.

i have been using this phone for 4-5 months and this is my unsolved problem since day 1 i got this phone. i've unstalled fexplorer and app manager to tracked the ram memory status. even though all files that were open are closed or exit, the ram memory still keep running lower and lower as i use my phone until i cant open any new files and it'll says 'memory full, closed....'. then gotta reboot the phone to make the phone goes back to normal. sometimes have to do this 6-7 times depends on usage. this has nothing to do with phone memory as the reading is very constant as about 7plus mb when ram memory runs very low, seems like the ram memory is not cleared even though all files were closed or exit. brought it down to nokia, formatted twice(phone and mmc) but still they cant solve. now there is this few here this problem, are there some more who got this problem?

Just simply closing all the open applications by holding down the menu key solved the problem fine for me. Sounds like your phones got something up with it. Try speaking to nokia or whoever you got the phone from!!

Could be the messages. I've had phone for 4-5 months and never had this problem. I don't keep messages though. I have about 15 stored.

Why do you keep so many ?

3000 messages????? [splutters]

Why on earth would anyone want to keep 3000 text messages stored on a phone? Text messages are transient things at the best of times. JUst archive any important ones and zap the rest and your phone will work properly.

And yes, good advice from others about keeping the RAM free of certain apps which like to hog the processor (games and music players and camera).
