Lightbulb Updated: Symbian Ogg Vorbis Player for Series 60 v2 Phones

The Open Source Ogg Vorbis Project for Symbian OS has updated the Series 60 release, which now features support for MP3 files and AAC files, as well as the open Ogg Vorbis standard. This version will only run on the Nokia 6600, 6620 and 7610 phones (those running v2.0 of Series 60, with the MultiMedia Framework code). Other Series 60 Devices (eg the N-Gage QD) can still get support on v1.0, which supports standard Ogg Vorbis files. UIQ devices can get support on v1.1.

There was a little glitch on Ewan's links for UIQ release, it was pointing on a S60 release.
The best place to find official OggPlay releases for all OS is http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/

Experimental releases can be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/symbianoggplay

Cheers!

I had been using the original OVcontroller from a previous post, the plug in to allow ogg to be recognised by the recorder app, but I thought that I would try this as it allowed mp3 as well. I un-installed the previous plugin as recommended, and installed this one. Using the supplied player I could play ogg files, and I could browse for them in 'profiles' but they wouldn't play when the phone rang or a message was recieved.
Oh well back to the original plug in, unless some one can think of anything.

The latest OggPlay (version 1.6.1) should adress the problem of ringing tones. It's primary a music player, but the ogg plugin delivered with the package should work well as ring-tones . It has been tested on several different 6600 firmware.

The 1.6.1 release can be downloaded from : http://sourceforge.net/projects/symbianoggplay
OggPlay homepage: http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/

Where can I find the MP3 Plug-in....

Hi, I also required the MP3 plug-in for my Panasonic X700. Hopefully future Ogg Player can include the MP3 Plug-in. Since they can create a version which can let my Panasonic X700 used Ogg file as ringtone, I think they can do the same for MP3 format.....Pls!!!!!
