Question If you're one that saves lots of SMS's, why?

This query by Raven prompted me to ask this in order to satisfy my - and hopefully somebody else's, too - curiosity:

If you are storing/saving lots of SMS's
  • How many do you have?
  • What are they about?
  • How old is the oldest SMS you have?
  • Why are they so valuable to you that you feel a need to keep them around (especially with so poor facilities for organizing them, and no facilities for searching them)?
My Inbox has currently 3 (one with an address, one with a password I need to remember, and a funny one; the oldest one is a little over a month old), I have no templates, and no messages in any folders of my own, and 0 saved in the Sent folder.

1. 425
2. Everything that has been sent and received...
3. 2/2/2003 the first SMS on my 7650 after I got it serviced from club Nokia...
4.Because I want to have a track on what I have sent or received. You never know when you'll need them. Sometimes just to remember things, just like photos from the past...

By the way, I am a little bit confused if I'll be able to move them from my 7650 to my new Symbian (I believe Series 60) phone in the near future. I remember loosing about 180 SMSs when I made the leap from 6210 to 7650...

Well that was old enough.

The only things that have changed since then are the phone that I have now and the total number of messages.

So now in my SX1 I have 1388 Messages (SMS,MMS,etc) including all the messages I previously had in my 7650 that I had succesfully managed to transfer into my present phone...

Finally emptied out my inbox...it was gettin' kinda annoying: every time I received a message and went to my inbox, my whole phone started flipping as it ran out of memory... So I decided to delete "a couple of messages" (I kept about 80 though, and I had already deleted some manually, so I had over 1400)

Re: If you're one that saves lots of SMS's, why?

Hehe, all fair questions I suppose...

- I have currently 1209 messages in my inbox.

- Mostly personal

- The oldest dates back to 20/04/2003/19.37

- Once I started saving a few, I couldn't stop because I didn't want the other messages to feel that they are less important. :p
And now I just want to see have many I can get in there. I'm going for 10000...

(The P800 message app does have a 'Search' function btw)

I sooo know where you're coming from.

For me, the choice was whether to be a geeky size-queen with an enormous inbox, or a destroyer of occasionally important messages.

My box suffers enough abusive incoming postings already so the important messages make the ultimate sacrifice.

Am I allowed to say any of that? I am actually trying to acknowledge the point Raven made. Honest.

I used to save lots of messages, but I've had so many problems with my 7650 and so many replacement handsets that I never get to keep any message for long.

Maybe I should be posting any kind of reply cos I'm not saving lots of SMS's. I have 7 in my inbox at the moment, most of the notifications about received voice messages in my answering service. I will delete them some time later. One is about the WAP settings, which I have been saving since March this year, just in case they get messed up again.
I never save sms's because they use up memory, that I need elsewhere in my communicator.

But don't ask about my e-mail inbox on my pc.

I got none on my phone. Space is not the question on my p800. But I aswer my SMS' asap and I clean up my inbox during my idletime where You can't send other people and my answering service is only renewing the SMS about number of calls. So there will only be one SMS from them at any time. Thats really nice.

GhostDog will become famous soon enough
I used to save them all,but since i've been experimenting and having some problems with my 7650 lately most of them are stashed as .txt files on my PC.I wish someone comes up with a decent SMS archiving utility. Now i have 30 in my inbox(Mostly personal)and 10 in my sent folder.
