What are the main difference compared to the P800? Is it worth upgrading?
A lot off people ask this! Judge for yourself
http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/en/p...mparison.shtml

Can I update my firmware myself?
Yes you can! http://www.sonyericsson.com/updatese...0/frameset.htm

Can an MP3 be used as a ringtone?
Yes you can. It wasn’t possible on the P800 yet, but on the P900 it is! :D

What bluetooth profiles are supported?
Generic access profile, Serial port profile, Generic Object Exchange Profile, Dialup Networking Profile, Object Push Profile, Headset Profile, File Transfer Profile.

Please note that it doesn't have Handsfree profile

How do I convert a DVD to a file I can play on the P900?
There is a great, extensive tutorial here:
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=231900

Can Outlook categories be synced?
No, unfortunately not

Does the alarm ring when the phone is not on?
No unfortunately not. If you don't want to be called or have any other gsm-activities but do want to hear the alarm, put your phone on Flight mode.

What image-size is used for pictures to fit the screen exactly?
Although the screensize in FC mode is 208x208 and FO mode is 208x320, those aren't the exact size of a background-picture since there is a statusbar and an "applicationbar" etc.

These are the exact measures
Flip close: 208x189
Flip open: 208x254

Does the P900 have profiles?
Not natively, but there is software that can fix that.
http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applicatio...Auto=818&faq=2

Can you create and edit Word and Excel files?
Once again, not natively, but once again, there is software that can fix that!
http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applicatio...Auto=491&faq=2

Does the P900 have fax capabilities
No, unfortunately not

Can you adjust the contrast of the P900's screen?
No, not gonna happen...

Any key-shortcuts?
Press and hold the “C” key on the keypad to turn on silent mode.
Press and hold the “1” key on the keypad to dial your voice-mail (if the number is set)
Press and hold the “Option” key on the keypad or press and hold the jog-dial “towards” yourself to open “Applications”
Press and hold any number key on the keypad to open "Contacts"

How can I access the service-menu?
Push your jog-dial "up" --> Press * --> Push your jog-dial "down" --> Push your jog-dial "down" again --> Press * --> Push your jog-dial "down" again --> Press *

Use at your own risk only (not that there is much risk but to be on the safe side :))

Can I map the keys?
Yes, with this app you can
http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applicatio...Auto=666&faq=2

Where can I find the latest PC Suite and other software?
http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...s1_1&pid=10101

Can I use a full-size keyboard?
Yes. There are a few that work with the P900. The first is an infrared keyboard from ThinkOutside (known as the PocketTop, Palm Wireless Keyboard...).
Drivers for this keyboard can be found here: http://www.gootz.net/gbin/uiq/

The second one is from ThinkOutside too, it is a bluetooth keyboard with drivers supplied.

Tcp/ip?

You forgot to mention whether it has TCP/IP or if it uses some other method for IP data on the GPRS networks.

Thanks,

Vlad

States: "It is very simple. All you have to do is: "

for Bluetooth (assuming that you already paired your Px00 and your PC and configured the connection for being used without confirmation), simply enable appropriate Bluetooth serial ports (usually COM3 and COM4) on your PC using "Phone Connection Link" Preferences. With newer BT software you can simply select "Quick Connect -> Serial Port" and choose the Px00 from the devices list. As soon the Bluetooth icon on your P800/P900 shows that the communication has been established, you can launch any Internet program on your Px00 and start using the Internet connection of your PC.

for USB connection, simply put your phone on its craddle paying attention that no Internet connection on your phone is active. Your phone will use the Internet connection of your PC automatically.

Note: Not every program is able to use your PC's connection. While most 3rd party programs work that way without any problems, the built in WWW browser and the Messaging application work with GPRS/dial-up connection of your phone only. Use Opera and some third party email program (like EmailViewer) instead.

can anyone help?

sorry to hijack - but struggling to find any info on how to gps enable my 910i? SonyE don't know - and Tom Tom are being non-commital - the Tom Tom mobile proposition looks ideal - but will it work?

Delta737 07-10-2004 07:34 AM

There is no TomTom for UIQ yet. Try Wayfinder or something

P910 does not sync ical

Hi there,
I have a 1.5 GHz powerpc G4 and I run 10.3.5. I have isync 1.5, and all the apple aplications are the latest versions. I also have a .mac account.
I recently bought a sony ericsson P900 mobile phone with the sole purpose of being able to sync my address book and to dos and calendar. I checked on your website and it says you suport this phone.
I can synchronise the address book no problem between both devices. But I can't sync the ical with the phone. The only way to install info is from the computer to the phone when you choose 'reset all devices' from the devices menu.

How can I solve this problem?

P.S. the phone has been paired to the computer, appears on the isync window and both devices communicate via bluetooth.

Thanks for your help,

igor

Whats the difference between P900 n P910i except for the shape? Could hardly figure out from the features listed at sony's site why P910i is more expensive than P900? :-(

If a comparison between the PHONES KEY FEATURES could be listed out would appreciate same so as to decide to get which one!

Thnx!

Delta737 03-04-2005 06:35 AM

Basically these are the main differences;

Qwerty thumboard in the back of the keypad
Brighter 262k color screen (vs. 65k)
MStick DUO Pro support of 1gb (vs. DUO 128mb)
Internal 64mb user memory + 32 RAM (vs. 16+16)

And also some software differences (like the support for HTML e-mail)
