N97 will not connect to Laptop in PC suite mode

It connects in all other modes but not PC suite, it doesn't even recognise there is something connected. I have tried restarting both the phone and laptop. It used to work, but stopped a while ago. The laptop is running WinXP.

Any Idea?

I use the latest Ovi Suite now instead of PC Suite.

BUT...both programs seemed to work BEST if you get them up and running BEFORE you plug the N97 and then select PC Suite mode.

Hi,

Do have backup of your phone data & PC registries then Uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, PC Connectivity solution, Nokia flashing cable driver(if any on your PC), Run PC Suite cleaner and reliable PC cleaner too. Install latest Nokia PC Suite from www.europe.nokia.com/pcsuite, reboot your pc. Once pc started, connect your phone with USB in different ports of your PC and check :)

Right now it will not connect to any PC at all, it is also stuck on image transfer mode, when I go into connectivity and try to change the connection type nothing happens and it is just stuck on image transfer mode.

I have removed everything nokia and rebooted I was using ovi suite originally.

Short of doing a hard reset is there any way of sorting it?

Thanks

Chris

You may have answered "Yes" to always connect to this device in Image transfer mode once before.

Try this Microsoft Knowledge Base for help in fixing USB port mode errors:

This has happened to me 4 times since V2. Only solution I know of is a hard restet..*#7370#. Has nothing to do with PC drivers, the PC suite program

Doing a hard reset fixed it, for a while now it has broken again.
