i am having problems updating the firmware from 200 to 300... it says, Cannot connect to the internet, though my firewall and internet connection (DSL) has no problems..
I wonder though if the facebook and myspace icons are just shortcuts to the s60browser? or are they really apps like the iphone facebook app?
also, when can we see tabs on the s60browser just like the ucweb???

So I download this Nokia Updater, copy it to a USB stick and take it home, install it on my PC, only to discover that I only have a generic updater! I STILL haven't got the firmware!
Why, if I hunt down my precise model of phone on the Nokia site to get the Nokia Updater for my model, don't they just include the firmware binary?
Not everybody in this world has an internet connection at home!

I dont want to pass all my mail through Nokia, so this is important to me. I read all Nokia info, but they take good care not to clarify anything about this.

Gonza, you end up with two different clients; the Nokia Service actually pulls the info from the IMAP or POP servers and pushes it to your device. So it will pass through Nokia, yeah.

Can't update
I've checked the code on my nokia E66 (bought about a year ago) and on nokia website it says no update available
*#0000# says firmware 102.07.81 RM-343 © Nokia E66-1 (249.02) dated 12-07-2008
Ok so ... WTF? I have a phone, that I bought for hard money, it lasts fucking 1 day on battery tops in GSM mode, freezes on me randomly when I close it and I can't even update it?!
Any particular reason I cannot update by 2 major versions?
if any1 is able to help, please send me a mail to xudacik@seznam.cz :( Am getting pretty frustrated.

E71 New Firware - New issue - No Bcc in MMS
Great - have just discovered a curious ISSUE with the newest firmware for the E71.
It now appears that you can not add the "Bcc" Address Field anymore since this new firmware, when composing or forwarding an MMS message.
And this is an ESSENTIAL feature, because many people do not realise, that if you send an MMS message to multiple recipients, each recipient can see the TELEPHONE NUMBER of all the other people you also sent it to.
So it was an ESSENTIAL feature, if you were going to send an MMS to more than one person.
Nice one Nokia.
NOT.

Messaging
Hi,
Right now my E71 (200.21.118) has the legacy mail client, and I downloaded the installable MfE. I did not download the new Nokia Messaging client because I think it does not support direct mail server connectivity (only the Nokia service). BTW I read that the new mail client is installed, only hidden because the service is not launched in my country (Arg) yet. True?
Questions: If I upgrade to the new version (and if and when the Nokia Email services is available here):
a) Does the new email client replace the legacy one, or do I end up with 2 different clients?
b) If the legacy client gets replaced.... Can the new client support direct to server imap/pop3 retreival? Or it only supports Nokia Service and direct imap/pop3 support is removed altogether?
I dont want to pass all my mail through Nokia, so this is important to me. I read all Nokia info, but they take good care not to clarify anything about this.
Thanks
Gonza

Need Russian? = Do Not Update to 300.21.012
There is a BIG MISTAKE in 300.21.012 firmware for Nokia E71-1 for Russian market (confirmed by Nokia already).
If you update 210.x.x. firmware to 300.21.012, you will lost ability to write Russian. You will be able to use English and Ukranian, but no Russian :(
What a shame for Nokia for one of the most significant market!
Verdict - DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU NEED RUSSIAN!

firmware not available
It seems that nokia is either having a problem with the update servers or they recalled the new firmware. Here's the log i get with wireshark when receiving the error that nokia software updater can't connect:
