ive got a nokia 5530 and it feels how it looks. If only it was 3G. The speakers are amazing and have proper surround sound. The only problem with mine is it freezes and automatically reboots randomly. Ive had it a month so i think it might be faulty

front facing speakers?
I have to say I like the look of this device.
I would be sold on it if it had GPS and 3G, but I'll have to wait.
I am curious if the speakers are actually front-facing, and how loud they are...

5530
This is just fantastic, i was waiting for more light colours in Xpressmusic handsets and the colour trimmings rock and look so damn sexy with this fone!
I agree that many ppl dont really use features missing from this fone in this category and this would particularly suit pay-as-you-go mobile users - ppl who hardly use GPS or 3G but sometimes may connect through WIFI. Plus such users would want great audio, touchscreen, stereo FM and a chance to own an S60 (with all that it brings along) at this price point. 5 stars!

Home Screen
OK FOR ANY NOKIA STAFF WHO MIGHT BE READING.
MAKE THIS HOME SCREEN FOR 5800, ITS A BETTER FIT THAN THE N97, ONE OR THE OTHER THOUGH, YOU NOW HAVE NO EXCUSE, IT CAN BE DONE ON 5800, THE NEW XM IS WHAT PEOPLE HAVE ASKED FOR OF THE 5800
YOU HAVE FINALLY LISTENED BUT FAILED TO PUT IT ON THE PHONE PEOPLE WANT IT ON.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR 5800
Sorry for the loudness of my post but i think it gets my view accross.

Fat 5800
Please, nokia, get the 5800 squeezed into this case... I want it NOW! I can do fine without the front cam, but I want the GPS+3G
The 5800 is too bulky, and the N97 is even bulkier (and far too expensive for me).

Nokia's Mistake
With India now going to have 3G by the end of the year nokia made a mistake by not including 3G in this phone. For us 100$ 5130 is enough to hear music. It would have been nice it they include 3G in this. I will go for 5800 with little more price

Iphone like full touch scrolling?!!?!! Are nokia slowly closing toward a perfect user interface?
And will this be added to the 5800/n97?????
|
It's nice but just superficial. Who actually needs it? It's a waste of CPU resource and programming effort. Give me real functionality first.
Have you seen the Nokia Photo Browser beta? Works on the 5800, does all this flouncy stuff, gets on my t**s.

That's not the first comparison that I would have thought of... but we'll be covering both devices in due course.
In summary though: E55 is more phone / enterpris / messaging centric, 5530 is more music / media / consumer centric. Both offer good value for money (continue to think best value Nokia devices are the S60 ones in the mid tier - good enough equation comes to mind).

Price, carrier restriction, credibility (image) and compactness.
There's four to get started. I would choose this over and iPhone anytime.

Too funny!
Now Apple is being greedy, overcharging operators for iPhone 3GS, it's Nokia's big chance to impress the public. Looks like they're blowing it big time.
|
How very stupid. Nokia supply a range of products, this is a basic entry phone and it has its place in the world, just like premium phones. This is one of a huge range, designed to take a share of the entry level market and as such looks damn good. Nokia don't bring out a sub 200 euro phone to compete with an iPlod phone. Duh! They are selling a sub 200 euro phone to markets without 3G.
