it's Success
I tried install nokia maps 3 using Nokia maps updater and success. I'm using N82 firmware v 31.0.0.016. I leave in Indonesia. My license is South East Esia. To bad at Nokia Maps 3 Indonesia it's a part of south east esia anymore. I should buy a new license for Indonesia. My oppinion at Jakarta, it's better maps. But outside Jakarta, like the street at Java, it's getting worse compare to Nokia maps 2. Nokia maps 2 provide the street much more complete. How come the road that is already exist at Nokia maps 2 but it doesn't exist at nokia maps 3?
The poi at Nokia Maps 2 much better then at nokia maps 3 even at Jakarta. This is a example there is Tugu Hospital at Nokia Maps 2 but at Nokia Maps 3 it's not available. For name of the street Nokia maps 3 much more complete at least at jakarta.
When i use Nokia Maps 3 without voice navigation at car, the maps can rotate automatically base on direction of the car exactly just like u'r using maps with turn by turn navigation licensed but without voice.

How comes you never talk about the number of countries covered?
Since way back in '07 when we first saw Nokia Maps with the N95, Nokia have not added a single new country to the selection available. Nokia Maps does not cover the whole world and if you happen not to live in the world's major countries, you might find there is no Map available for you.
I just thought that by now, 2 yrs later, they would have added more maps! Frankly Google Maps is far better as it covers everywhere - the big drawback being you can't pre-download the maps.
If you go to Nokia's website, it misleadingly says there are maps for 200 countries available. Digging further, it says there are non-navigable maps available for those countries... except that you can't get them from Map Loader, and if you browse to one of these countries on the Maps app on your phone, you'll find that the map is almost blank; the level of detail is almost non-existent. Not to mention you've incurred data charges as the map is downloaded.
So when the hell are Nokia gonna make more countries available, and when is AAS gonna stop blowing the trumpet for Nokia Maps while ignoring the fact that a lot of the world just has no maps in Nokia Maps...?

As predicted, it doesn't like the i8510... "phone not supported" is the lovely missive it gives.
I'm going to play some more tonight, when I can try "hacking" the connection between my phone and PC and see if I can pretend I'm using a Nokia handset.

And icon is named Smart2go. You cannot uninstall this. So I am without Maps now. Utterly rubbish from Nokia, like Nokia email and Vine.
I am using N85.

At least you can get Maps back running by doing the following ...
1. using File Manager .. Locate the CITIES folder and DELETE it.
2. Locate the qf file and DELETE it.
3. Reinstall Nokia_Maps_2.0_4503_3.2_u.sis
4. Start Maps - no maps available - close Maps - recreates the directories.
5. Use Map Loader to add extra maps as required.
Sorry I don't have a fix for the icon or the App name as yet .. maybe someone clever could help out with that.

So is Nokia Maps catching up with the likes of Co-Pilot
So what's the verdict guys ?
With the latest release, is Nokia Maps starting to look like a credible product. I mean when compatred to the likes of CoPilot and Garmin solutions (I'll put aside Steve's Nokia Maps is currently best solution senior moment aside).
Co-Pilot looks great and I am seriously thinking of making it my next purchase. But I do like the idea of regular updates and in particular, terrain mapping (not famous locations, more altitude etc. when dealing with complex terrain). Also when dealing with complex multi level junctions with overlapping road etc.
From what I've seen of it (on other platforms) iGo8 looks fantastic. But don't expect it to reach S60.
So is Nokia Maps reeally going places ?

Like the desktop version, a bit slow indeed but looks promising. Can't wait to get the Tube or the N97 and to navigate with 3.0!!!

After the service error, I plugged it back into the map updater. It reinstalled itself and works fine.

It seems so bartmanekul. This version bricked my N85 sort of. I found solution from Beta Labs Blog. They really should not release apps like that. Here is link to Blog, please check post by Nik.

The plugin works for me with both Firefox 3 and IE7, but doesn't really seem to do much at the moment: just gives you a map.
