lifeblog
ive just forcible upgraded to the N96 after losing my N95 and the loss of lifeblog is harsh. I was using it as my main store and backup of everything and now I cant transfer diddly back to the new phone. Its just rubbish and im totally frustrated, Since now I have to go to all my friends and get thier numbers one by one. Shiet.

LIfeblog shouldn't be a deal breaker
Hi,
As I change devices on a regular basis I can share your frustrations but I think you are perhaps being a little unfair on suggesting no lifeblog is a potential deal breaker. OK, you are not suggesting this but this is how your comments are being viewed by the comments right?
My understanding is that you can import your whole lifeblog database into Nokia photos and continue as before. You have not lost anything and the ability to blog your life through pics, vids, text etc in a timeline is still there. On the plus side, there is now the amusing (at least for my kids) map view so we can see where we've been.
Dare I say it but did I miss something? I'm sure someone will tell me

Just been digging around the developer forums to see what the score is with SIP/VoIP on the N85. As always, it seems, the situation is an unholy Nokia/S60-style mess, which would make your average Joe User run a mile (probably to the nearest iPhone shop). It seems:
- The SIP stack has been upgraded to version 3
- In order to use it, you need an "advanced settings plugin", available from
http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._Settings.html.
WHY, NOKIA, WHY!!!???
- Or you could wait for a third party (maybe a SIP provider, like Trufone?) to write an app.

I didnt think there would be so many users of LifeBlog still around. In one of the earlier articles, someone had started criticizing LifeBlog which found lots of similar thinking people and no one defended it then..

I just used the built-in app Switch. Moved all of the data over that I required from my N95 to N85, no issues!

No Lifeblog is a Bad Thing. Is there anything which has the same functionality? Is Nokia Photos the same thing but just photos?
Well, I'm still interested in the N85, but Lifeblog was one of the things keeping me more tied in to Nokia than I might have otherwise been. I'm now far more inclined to consider other manufacturer's phones knowing that Lifeblog has gone - I've got a lot of memories in there on the PC version: wedding photos and texts, my daughter being born etc. It's a really useful way of keeping a diary for someone who's no good at keeping diaries. Never used the phone app, I must admit, but this really, um, sucks :(.

I am very dissapointed that there is no built in internet calls on the N85.
There are SIP settings but no internet call application.

And this is why they call us the Gurus :p no seriously, next time you want to switch S60 handsets, Ewan, please take a look at this guide that I compiled a while ago: www[dot]symbian-guru[dot]com/welcome/2008/07/symbian-gurus-ultimate-guide-to-switching-devices It may not have the answer to N-Gage switches, nor to application licenses or Lifeblog's absence, but it does have some serious tips to move your personal data, contacts, calendar, messages, bookmarks, even your Nokia Maps (or Google Maps) favorites, your Sports Tracker previous tracks and your T9 dictionary  quite useful, and whenever I need to move things to a new handset, I always re-open that post and make sure I didn't forget to do one of them.

As you probably know, I am also an avid LifeBlog user and ambassador.
What many of people on the street do not understand, is that the phone app is not the end of story, and that there is PC LifeBlog app which TOTALLY ROCKS, but was miserably under-marketed.
What can I say? I was sorry to hear of dismantling the moniker and some functionality.
Ovification must go on.

Just to point out that *production* N85s and N79s have only in the last week or so been available to journalists. We did do some very thorough 'previews' of the prototypes, remember 8-)

The missing lifeblog application is a good reason to delay my handset change for a while.
As this is my main blogging tool, i need to find an alternativ before i move on.
