Hi Ewan,

Thanks for this fantastic piece of news. I am a sales guy and hence have to deal with lot of business cards! I own a Nokia N82, probably a phone for me that has got everything I need apart from a business card reader.

Looks like, this thing is just made for guys like me!!!

viipottaja I downloaded the trial and am probably going to buy it. What would make the app A LOT better for me at least, would be to be able to save the business card contacts into a different database (and not in the regular contacts/phone book as it glutters them with a lot of contacts Iwill rarely actually use). Any ideas? I gather its not possible with the current version.

Off topic: E71 business card reader app lost!!

E71 business card reader comes with the memory card, and if it gets corrupted, whats the way to get it back? Its not available in the download catalogue, as well as the CD accompanying the phone. Help needed here.

a but premature donīt you think?? and when we change, it wonīt be called "s60" anyway, and they better incorporate the best parts of UIQ, because if not, winmo here i go

regarding Business Card Readers, yes, all UIQ3 phones with camera have it, for free, and it works very well most of the times

Unregistered I've been using Abbyy's PC OCR software with my N95: When in the library reading a book I'm usually too lazy to make long notes. Then I realized I could take a photo of the page with my N95 and at home let the Abbyy's OCR read it. Works like a charm.

wampyre The application is great for its purpose and can even show and fill inn other cards that are not "business cards".

As with all OCR software it needs a bit of correction, but overall it works better than other solutions I've seen so far.

Definitely a plus that it is available all from our phones.

Jejoma Slightly off track, you inspired me to try out the business card reader on my SE P1i - well, I've only had the phone for about ten months! I was amazed at how well it worked, even when I accidently photographed a card upside down. I will have to start making use of it.

A comparison of the two programs would be very interesting, particularly since it looks like UIQ users are going to have to switch to S60!

Abbyy's Business Card Reader is a classic case of 'does what it says on the tin'. But, as commercial software, albeit with a one day trial version, how well does it do when faced with a sizeable stack of cards? I asked veteran conference goer Ewan to throw a few dozen cards at the utility. How well did Business Card Reader do? - find out in the review.
