ares Rafe, i agree there are no public info about releasing Opera Mobile 9.5 to older UIQ3 devices.

However...why is Opera openly showing it running on the P1??? Why opera mobile 9.5 page on opera.com, and opera mobile blog banners have a P1i image running om 9.5???

I mean...i also do not expect SE to provide om 9.5 on a firmware update...but i think we can expect it has a standalone application...

If they do not do it...well...i hope we can get it by other methods...its just not fair to be showing it running on old UIQ3 devices, and then not alowing it to be released!

I also donīt quite get how the old Opera 8.65 is said to be the main browser of the new UIQ 3.0 devices, G700 and G900, and at the same time the whitepaper of these devices says Flash Lite 3 will be available on the browser after the first firmware update. I mean, i thought Opera 8.65 was not ready for FL3, and this is precisely one of the key features of the new Opera Mobile 9.5 - why would they provide FL3 via firmware update, and not the new Opera version???

Rafe ares - indeed its anything that has the new browser on it. However currently there are no plans (that I'm aware of) to make to browser available for older handsets.

The new version of Opera (9.x) is a standard part of UIQ 3.3 where as earlier version has Opera 8.54 (IIRC).

Segey Zek - agreed this is a smart move, though it pobably means we wont see the integration with phone functions/hardware like WRT on S60 (or not to the same dgeree).

Sergey Zak From a developer's standpoint,
It's cool to know there's one platform more in the market for your widget, for zero dev efforts.
I consider this is a strong move on UIQ part.
Nokia WidSets still stands apart, and one has to develop goodies for them separately from the huge PC market.

UIQ 3.3 widgets via Opera Widgets SDK

Opera has announced the availability of the Opera Widgets SDK. The SDK allows the development of cross device and cross platform applications using standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, DOM, Javascript). Opera Widgets can run, assuming the presence of the Opera browser (9.5), on a PC, mobile phones (e.g. UIQ 3.3 phones), game consoles (Wii) and TVs. Opera Widgets is the widget platform that will be used by future UIQ devices.
