files missing
buster, the firmware installer states that one should perform a full backup of the phone before the upgrade, also that the phone memory will be wiped clean. this affected me heavily too on my first update , on the next occasion i spent some time backing up important data.
incidentally, there is an ap called midilet restorer which will bring back a lot of the missing/seemingly uninstalled aps, from the phone memory. it is available from

JVM for E90
Hello Steve,
Just a quicky for you mate,
I have tried accesing many Internet pages where it shows that your Java is not enable although we have java on E90 but still im not able to view those contents which other wise we are able to see on desktop pc's.
Could you please throw some light on that for e.g. JVM for E90, Citrix or ICA plugin.
Much Appreciated.

My E90 is dead after updating FW 210.xx
I'm quite happy to learn that new firmware (ver 210.xxx) is available and hoping it will improve my current FW ver 200.xxx. After NSU downloading est 88Mb data and the updating process begin, the NSU prog screen showed a problem and advised to unplug the power, USB data cable, remove and reinstall the battery. After that, press and hold the power button for the system to continue the updating process. And guess what!!??, my E90 is dead, only a faint Nokia logo appears in the internal screen after the power button was pressed. Brought it to Nokia service centre 3 days ago and still waiting for them to call back.....

I upgraded my phone, and it seems ok, but I forgot to backup on the memory card, what I normaly do, but made a back up using PC suite.
Is there any difference between memory card backup and PC suite backup except from the memory card, it is much faster.
I hope I don't have to reinstall everything again...
UPDATE: What I was scared off happened, the pc backup only placed back my contacts, messages etc but not all the apps are working anymore, or some say they are in trial mode...

I had a reply regarding Best Safe. Their argument was that phone manufacturer's backup solutions are notorious for not backing up 3rd party applications and/or their data, which is why Best Safe has an Import/Export feature. I hadn't used this, as I was assuming that doing a full backup and restore would be sufficient; how wrong I was. Obviously I'll be more careful next time...
Cheers, Ian.

Re: Best Safe. Very strange, you'd have thought that this database would have made it back!
Anyway, you now know why Rafe and I and others all recommend Handy Safe. With a synced Desktop version, getting data back is only one click away. Best £25 I ever spent.

Installations much faster
Installation of .SISX files appear to be much faster, transfer speed appear to be improved and the installer on the phone appear to be faster too.
Anyone else observed this ?

Michael

More specific!
"A boat load of bug fixes and tweaks."
Can you please provide a list or a link to a list specifying this boat load of bug fixes and tweaks, thank you.
Accuracy in terms of "boat load" doesnt help anyone in any way.
